the reason they dont ban alcohol and fags (at least here in the uk) is cuz various government run agencies, like the NHS are partly funded by taxes from these drugs which is huuuugely ironic considering the NHS often cleans up the wreckage that these drugs cause.

also, they tried to ban alchohol in the states during the prohibition era. it didnt work. it just sent the alchohol trade underground and on the black market. now that alchohol is here, its here to stay. it would piss too many people off and ruin too many public services that depend on the sale of alchohol for a ban to be taken seriously.

that said, nobody in government stands anything to gain by legalising any more drugs. just the downgrading of weed to class C turned enough voters and concerned middle class parents against labour that they really have nothing to gain by being lenient on drugs and drug users. actually they have everything to gain by being 'tough on drugs.' the majority of voters like it.

legal shrooms would be sick. ive never experienced a derangement of the senses like a shroom trip before. just the thought of being in any serious situation with serious consequences makes the mind reel. if they made a special trip place where people go to trip, well that would probably weird me out - loads of complete strangers totally high. actually i might find it funny. or not. i have no idea. it depends on the mood im in i guess.

i do however recommend that every person trip at least once in their lifetime (even if its a bad trip) cuz it will open your miiiiiiiiind. let you see into teh fuuuuuuutuurrre.

most drug bans in american history happened because the goverment needed a scapegoat for various reasons, in almost all cases, the bans were related to racism (and implented first against specific races)

what i hate the most is how LSD got banned which is a totally diffrent story to the rest. i blame it completely on the CIA.

if im not mistaken, the CIA's reserch on LSD was the main basis for the ban. the problem is that their reserch was completely skewed:

they placed the subjects in bad atmospheres on all of their tests, they investigated them as you would a psychotic serial killer, and they dosed people who didnt even want to try LSD....

oh, and their LSD wasnt pure LSD,, it was as shady as the LSD people use nowadays.

pure LSD doesnt cause ANY physical damage (not to the brain, not to the neurons, not to anything).

damnit, i hate the american gov (and the israeli one for being america's bitch)

(thats just a small portion i remember from a reserch on LSD i did a few years ago)

What if theyre illegal because theyre drugs, which affect you harshly. Legal drugs (caffeine, niccotine, alcohol) dont affect you much, with the exception of alcohol, which would probably be illegal if it wasnt such a strong part of society.

The government doesnt want people to lose thier judgement. I know you probably think that hallucinogens are harmless, but you cant deny that they alter your state, if they make one drug legal, people will want them to make more legal.

Beleive it or not, it would be hard to have a good society if everyone did drugs. I realise that you like to think that you can keep it reserved for the weekend, or something like that, but not everyone can, and not everyone would if it was legal.

Just something to think about. There have been many cases of people getting of with much lighter sentences for homicide, because they were under the influence of drugs at the time.
