You're just mad that we didn't vote for Kerry.
Thats how it is, people want you to vote, until they find out you don't want to vote for their candidate. Then they get pissed off.
Hilarity ensues. |
Haha, although I care how people vote, I recognize their right to choose. That said, I find I pretty sad that people actually think that voting for a third party candidate (especially one who has no chance to win and who has no real platform..) will be effective at all. It's pretty uneducated if you ask me

people can vote for who the hell they want can they not? if a vote such as his is uneducated, you should be shouting at all the brits who voted UKIP in the european elections. they had no chance of winning, they will never get in office, but the whole point was that it was a protest vote, much like i presume this is.
if people wish to vote for someone other than the 2 main candidates, that is not uneducated. more power to them, and people voting as such will encourage 3 party politics, which is what the US is in desperate need of.
back on topic, that sucks that you had to pay to vote. they should be paying it for you!

1) I'm not really fermiliar with the UK voting system, but it's not a 2-party system is it?
2) I HATE the fact that the US is a two-party system, but until it's changed (which won't happen, since it has to be changed by legislation, and the legislative branch of the gov't is populated by YOU GUESSED IT democrats and republicans). Go vote for whomever you want....
3) Voting for candidates that have no representation in the house or senate is ludacris. If there was a system of proportional representation in place in the US, or even a mixed system, then voting for non-majority candidates would be feasible.

Yeh, the election is tomorrow, and California requires that all the absentee ballots be into the polling stations by the end of election day. It sucks because I sent in an application for an absentee ballot like 2 months ago, all filled out properly, and they sent me back the same application :-/. It said that it had to be in by Oct 26, but that's when I recieved it back in the mail.

we have a 3 party political system, with many smaller independant parties and even single candidates also within the system. there will never be legislation in the US for 3 party politics if nobody ever votes for people other than republicans or democrats, this is where i think you lot are stuck in a rut, anbd why i would encourage people to vote for others

What does voting have to do with a rapper from Atlanta?
Ludicrous, perhaps.

Yeh i hear yah, but the barrier to access for "other" parties is just too high. They need 5% of the popular vote to be recognized for public funding, so that would be like 13 million votes (something like that). Even if they attained this goal, they still need to actually get seats in the house and the senate (and they'll need more than 5% of the vote to do so). I think that the US voting system (2 party, electoral college) and represtation structure (single member plurality) needs a huge revamp.
