Music is too instrumental in my life to be with someone that didn't enjoy it with me. I love going on road trips to shows with my brother and/or best friend. I used to do that with my ex so it's nice to have someone that will still do things like that with me. I couldn't imagine going on a road trip (to anywhere for any reason) or just driving to run errands and the person that I'm with hated the music that I love. Or how about if I want to go to shows and that person not understand or appreciate my desire or interest? I would love for my boyfriend to be right there with me with a big ass smile on his face loving the music.
My best friend is a DJ and there is no way in hell that I could ever date someone that wasn't interested in listening to him spin. If that was the case I would be going out quite a bit without my boyfriend and how much fun is that? Ideally the person that I am with loves listening to Paul spin and would be the one suggesting that we go out for the evening. I don't mean all the time, but even once a month would still be nice.
I would rather date someone that loves music as much if not more than I do. It's nice having someone that understands why I'm ok with staying home on a weekend night to listen to Ferry Corsten spin live from NY or Tiesto spin live from Holland. I do listen to a variety of music so I don't expect the person that I'm with to be limited to just EDM, but if he hated trance (house and prog) he and I would never work. Life is too short to spend it with someone that I have to compromise who I am just to be with him. Yes we do make adjustments to be with the people that we love, but I have limitations to how much I am willing to compromise.
