I'd never charge that much, even if I was a world-known DJ...

i smell noncence.

they make alot for big events (creamfeilds, global gathering and such) but normal nights are nowhere near that.

i know for a fact john '00' flemming is £1500 for a 800 capacity club on a sat night (for me anyway).

all i know is that here in nyc, pvd, tijs and armin makes over 30,000. for sure i know oakey made 80,000 on thanksgiving eve at exit/nyc. pvd makes at least 40,000- 50,000 a gig and tijs the same if not more. armin is the lowest of course. it is all about the following. of course the likes of a tiesto or a pvd brings more crowd than armin. andy is right, dt demands at least 50 grand or more but he does spin crazy hrs.. 12 hrs or more for that money.. HEHE IT IS WELL WORTH IT :P

I don't think the djs themselves want to charge so much, it's just that the machinery that runs their operation costs sooo much (agents, record companies etc).

Btw. Goin' to see AvB this friday, hopefully he'll be worth even some of his huge salary

It's true, if you take into account booking agents commission, managers commission, publicists, PR expenses, accountants, assistants, label costs and then you have to pay tax. I wonder what percentage DJs actually get to keep?

It depends on where they spin. Less in the states most of the time.

i really dont think the figures quoted in this thread make any economic value

if oakey was charging 50000 USD a set for the USA (something most people think happens "easily"), you would need to charge 50 USD per head for a 1000 capacity club just to break even, and youre not counting production or promotion costs which will, of course, put you in the red

and whoever said oakey was making 80k USD for a set is obviously a clown

They'd have it all sorted out to make sure they break even - and think - 1000 people in a club maybe spending an average of £20 - £30 on drinks - theres another £20,000.
Don't worry about the clubs - they make their money alright.
