Hmmmmm....the game has already surpassed 3million units in sales. I think it will more than likely take it. And micorosoft assured the pc version wont be like last years version halo as just being a cheap import.

Ok I have to vent here, I had just about enough of everybody jacking off to that game.. ok, It's entertaining, but far from being the BEST in its caterogy, honestly..

-its lacks a good storyline

-The cutscenes are all in-game, no video or anything, and they are very basic...

-very repetitive

-Halo 2 looks just like the first one

-Ordinary graphics

-And the god damn Earth mission is the coolest but also ridiculously short!

dont get me wrong, I'm having fun playing this game at my friend's place, but I just dont know why everybody is THAT excited about it like there was anything innovative or unique in the game that we havent seen before.. There are shooters out there far better then Halo IMO

i agree to a certain extent n|te-L|fe. there have only been a small batch of next gen (post doom) first-person shooters that have kept me entertained enough to complete the. halo 2 is one of them.

why? yes on the outside it does look more or less like a cookie-cutter game in its genre. it is indeed reminiscent of the first title and the cutscenes, though not horrible looking, aren't anything to gawk at by today's standards but it's the gameplay imo that keeps me wanting to progress further.

there is something satisfying about hijacking a Ghost from an elite that was just about to turn you into roadkill. there is also the need to think on the fly and to manage/make do with the guns you're currently carrying. the addition of "dual-weild" in the game may seem basic but i think it's executed so well; the best i've seen to date. if you really think about it, it makes for some pretty interesting and brutal battles. i will go so far as to say managing your guns in halo 2 is similarily on par with the micromanagement in RTS games.

the vehicles are what makes the game stand out as well. there has yet to be a game imo that integrates vehicles into a game's campaign as successfully as halo has. i applaud the game designers in creating levels built AROUND vehicle use as well. they are sheer blast to play, i've found myself playing them a few times over again just for the sheer thrill and satisfaction of blowing a banshee out of the sky and watching it tumble to the ground or crushing elites under the treads of my scorpion.

in general to me, halo is all about satisfaction. it delivers that in spades.

this is my impression of the campaign alone. the multiplayer is fantastic and is on a totally different tangent than with most FPSs.

EDIT: btw, the AI never acts the same twice. very unpredictable.

YES WTF I tought there would be lots of missions with city fighting, etc. Were back to the same kind of maps as in the first one, it,s so similar. And the storyline is so basic like it,s all in the cutscenes, no story while playing really. And another Halo ring, come on get some inspiration please.

I think with half-life 2 you need to take in mind all of the addons to it. Like Counter-strike Source (AMAZING) and DOD source + all of the mods that will come out wich is not possible with a console game.

So on a console : halo2 wins it

But Half-life 2 single player = Best
Half-life 2 multiplayers (hl2, CS, DOD, etc) = BEST
