mixing mp3's is really fun, but to pull out those deep bass tones from your mixes you really need turns and Vinyl. Analog doesn't distort like digital, cause the low frequenices aren't compressed. This becomes very apparent on bigger sound systems. Ultimately you can beatmix just about anything ( I don't about polka:crazy as long you can cut and pitch bend.

i think im the only one who uses AtomixMP3. has highs, mids, and lows faders which are used almost all the time. i used to use traktor but my old system wouldnt run it smoothly so i converted to atomix and been using it ever since. traktor doesnt have effects and samples like atomix. the only thing i dont like is the looping, you cant go longer than 8 beats which kinda sux. i mix mp3s becuase its the affordable way to go for me i do at some point plan on getting cdj's but djing with a laptop is pretty convienient.

one hugh flaw to mixing with a mouse, the overall control is horrendous

MixVibes also have this things.. effects (6 to one track), sampler, and looping.. IMHO Atomix is a bit lame (or to 'new'newbies) ;p .

I use Traktor DJ Studio v 1.0 but I would get some real gear anytime if I could (I don't have the money now). It's a preaty good piece of software. I've started mixin with it in may 2003 and since then I keep using it. What I like the most is that I can use hot keys for almost everything I need to control: cue, start/stop, pitch fader, pitch bend, eq and faders. If you know it very well and got some talent you can do awesome sets (check the mp3 contest winners), but as I said before real gear is much better, and I look forward to the day I'll get a mixer and a pair of cd/tt.

I've been wondering this too. I've heard of people using Acid Pro, Pro-Tools, and Final Scratch.
Out of these three which is the best all around (ie. for at home producing and live performances)

you can make peusdo-mixes with ACID 4.o with the beatmapper but its not in real time.... I'd say Protools is the best for Digital Remastering... cubase is my favorite for composing

Good topic. I looked out for a long time to find a proper program to mix on computer (just out of mobility reasons when I´m travelling and wanna check out what mix might work).

Anywho... I found atomixmp3 - and it´s quite good- includes effects. Even though they automatic sync doesn´t work either.

Did u guys actually mix in a track u had on CD? I found that it always works better if u got it on ur hard disk.

i almost never use the auto beatsync button in atomixmp3, more accurate to use the visual.

i always keep my tracks on the hard drive, more stable and reliable that way
