i think you missed my point. any DJ who is decent will be able to mix most things well. i didnt say if you don't like it you can't mix it, i said you will mix your favorite stuff the best. now 'best' can mean different things.. literally the best sounding, the most consistant, take it how you like

example, i go to my mates house, we play a mix-up of breaks and slower funky techno. we both play well and nail it. then i'll play on my own, and i'll play the harder more driving techno (my favorite), and not only will i enjoy it more, i will mix better and pull off more tricks because i am enjying it more

Maybe I'm unusual in this regard, but I've found that it's easier to get a tight mix with a slower tempo song. The beats tend to run away from each other quicker the faster the song is (since there's more beats in the same amount of time). With slower songs, it's easier to hold a mix for longer. Also, pitch control is more accurate at slower speeds.

I just can't mix it. I don't know why, but I can't mix it.
Once I get into the faster uplifting, my mixing is a bit better, but when I play tech and hard trance (which I really enjoy playing cos of the energy it gives out), I'm a lot smoother, better beatmatching and everything.

Any ideas why this may be? True I probably like the Tech and Hard a bit better, but I also really like the proggy sorta stuff (or else I wouldn't play it), and I wouldn't think this would really affect my mixing.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I have had the similar problem.. however not the same problem with the same music.. I can mix slower proggy stuff, and hard house pretty much spot on, barely ever have to correct, Trance, what I like spinning most, is what I have troubles with... Prolly mostly to do with soo many different melodies and stuff that can clash while cueing.. just have a difficult time, sometimes.. I still mix good sets, its just a really good workout..

Cheers
Josh.
