If there was something I never expected to see on TA, it's probably a thread about Merzbow.

I've heard Merzzow, but not much else. I guess it's a pretty good example. I don't really get noise as a genre, so I haven't looked into it much. Powernoise/power electronics/whatever you call it is quite a bit more towards my liking.

There are quite a few threads about the genre (or that were hijacked by a discussion on it ), which are very interesting.

Other than that, google "Merzbow", this is not really accurate, but you could say he's to noise what LTJ Bukem is to atmospheric drum'n'bass. Here's a good start:
