Let them have the genre i say, whats the point anymore, they are never going to understand. The people making this type of music will eventually get bored when they realise the 'superstar' status attached to trance music is no longer attainable.

don't listen to these people. techno is a TYPE of sound. kinda like tribal or disco or epic/harmonic or funk is a type of sound. techno can be trance and techno can be house ie. tech house and tech trance. almost all trance has an element of techno in it. techno means sound manipulated by technology as apposed to sound made by a genuine instrument. but you know what? most everybody defines this shit differently so do what you want.

This is a very good point.


Just like there is cheesy trance there is shitty techno. But it would be naive to say the entire genre is shitty. Just dig a bit deeper and you will find some quality tracks.


Not all trance is ASOT fluff and not all Techno is pots and pan noise.

My advice:
Fuck labels and genres and just listen to good music.
