its ONLY SLR like.....trust me, i get payed for photography.
SLR = Single Lens Reflex
meaning, it needs a mirror, meaning SLRs use a mirror, therefor, anything that isnt "single lens reflex" is not an SLR.
well I get paid too...
the F717 is an unique case, its one of the rare ones out there where the viewfinder is electronic and mimic that damn "mirror" you're talking about. Even god says so (dpreview.com)
I know it doesn't stand a chance against the other SLRs out there, but still the definition is clear, and the F717 is an SLR.
than u might wanna count the Minolta DiMage as an SLR too, eh?
my friend had it, its OBVIOUSLY not SLR..........

I also have the Canon Digital Rebel 300D, excellent camera too, the lense is ok, if you know a place in your town where you can rent lenses for cheap then you're all set.

We use a Canon 20D at work, thing is amazing.

i use a rebel, and ive done professional prints. came out VERY nice.
How’s the resolution and exposure metering on the rebel? Are there problems with the lens conversion factor on the canons if you use older canon lenses?

You can find slightly used D60 (6MP, better than a 300D) on ebay for like 6-700$...then you need some lenses...
Do you own the D60? I was checking out the D100 but it's a little steep at $1000 just for the body.
Thx

I own the D60's younger brother...the D30...examples on my gallery (hit my website button).
The D60 is a full 6MP and a GREAT slr feature wise...maybe a bit slower AF than the 300D but still a great camera...

everything is exactly same as the rebel as on the 10D, except: slower fps, no spot metering, no 3200ISO (i think 10D has it), no AI-Servo, and no temperature controls. Basically, you wont really NEED those extra features, theyre nice, but not a necessity.
