aiwa and best buy sound like a bad combination.
the HD280s are the best for the money, overall. they've got really nice tight bass (not overly loud, distorted, or boomy like so many headphones) and really good attenuation. I actually use my HD280s as hearing protection on the job! (I work in a very loud computer lab, so i'm wearing them now lol)
HDJ1000's do sound really nice.. real crisp top end and good tight bass alot like the 280's. they're prone to breaking in a number of ways, not exactly durable headphones.
You can get the HD280s for $70 and some change from agiprodj. not much cash for some great cans!
