My mistake, 25,000 Hz was the correct high frequency. Still pretty impressive for $30

aiwa and best buy sound like a bad combination.

the HD280s are the best for the money, overall. they've got really nice tight bass (not overly loud, distorted, or boomy like so many headphones) and really good attenuation. I actually use my HD280s as hearing protection on the job! (I work in a very loud computer lab, so i'm wearing them now lol)

HDJ1000's do sound really nice.. real crisp top end and good tight bass alot like the 280's. they're prone to breaking in a number of ways, not exactly durable headphones.

You can get the HD280s for $70 and some change from agiprodj. not much cash for some great cans!

i used to own those, the HP-X223

theyre actually a good pair of headphones IMO

they're not really PRO headphones or anything but for $30 theyre a great deal for beginners

they seem to be designed as a low end DJ product -

-good isolation from what i remember
-really comfy
-pretty long cord, 9ft i think
-1/4 adapter included
- even has a mute button not that its anything special, some may like it

I would suggest the 280's as well very good phones and if you find them lacking in bass theres always a mod you can do to them to add more bass.

I own the model that came out before that, the HP-X222's. I never considered using 'em for DJing though, I only use em for listening with the comp and riovolt. I'm not sure if the sound quality would be good enough to spin with, although if my HDJ-1000's ever break and I need a backup, I might have to find out.

anyone have opinions/info about the Numark PHX's?

I have PHX's..bought them a month ago!
Have only played with them in my bedroom but I love them so far

+1 on that, i agree that the 280s rock, I have them adn use them for everything from casual listening to DJing to Gaming on my computer(Great for LAN parties with the noise cancellation) all in all there great, if you can pick them up for 70 now then go for it, I payed 100 for mine have yet to have one single regret.
