I agree with you guys about someone like DJ Sammy. It would be hard for a mainstream cheddar trance producer to go to house. House dj's tend to be a little anti-trance. However, a funky house dj producing a good trance track would probably work. Most trance dj's that I know don't have much knowledge of the house genre. They usually push into progressive, but not house as much. I like funky house, but I don't really know any of the producers. The producer would have to get a big dj to play it out and build the popularity first, but I know a lot of people that will pick up records randomly out of a certain style at the record shop. Get it into some stores and it's bound to be picked up, if it's good.
Another option is getting a big name trance producer to do a remix or get it on a reputable label. If I see a record on Tsunami or Release I always listen to it. There are several labels that are like that for me, and I'm sure it's the same for others.
