'in' sounds so gay in that context

I had to say it a few times to see.....I admit to being grammatically incorrect.

haven't seen you in ages.... that makes sense because "ages" have time contained within them.
havent seen you since... last tuesday (or whatever) that makes sense because you're specifically referring to a past time when you did see the person

havent seen you in forever.... sounds better than saying havent seen you forever but grammatically I'm not so sure its right....

I'd put a smiley with the nerdy spectacles at the end of this post but I can't find one...

cheers

it has nothing to do with being grammatically correct, just if you were to use that extression, which would you use...

and yes, this is the stupidist poll you'll ever take...so what do i win???

forever = a long time.

haven't seen you in forever (a long time) is correct.

you wouldn't say i haven't seen you a long time.

that doesnt make sense to change the words like that!

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...%22&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...%22&btnG=Search

this two google searches, clearly shows that without "in" is almost 50% more common. so end of discussion
