wow didnt expect a big argument from this, lol. anyway iv had mine around 2 months and am becoming very compotent at beatmatching so i think theyre not that bad to use. whats all this about fluctuation? and does anyone know much about the pitch on them e,g is it really sensetive or do u have to be heavy handed with it to hear a differnce? im not too sure on this cos i can only compare them wiv technics and thats not fair..

you have to make very small movements with it in order to get it spot on, although you will never hear the difference anyway unless you move it 0.5% or so..

the fluctuation thing, the pitch will fluctuate slightly when you leave the deck playing, even on a high end deck like a vestax or technics. although the amount it fluctuates by is drastically smaller on a high end deck, this is what you pay for. these fluctuations arn't much of a big deal though, you just have to make adjustments a bit more often (not on the pitch fader, by pushing the record or whatever).

Like I said, its their character, and you get good at making corrections. Mine are second hand 1650s, so have had a fair bit of use, and the fluctuations are really noticable sometimes, but new ones wouldn't be that bad. I don't know if there is any difference in motor between 1650s and 200s, if there is the 200s would be better.

The pitch alterations, yeah you gotta be slight, but once or twice when I make a big change (like 0.5 or more) it takes time for the motor to catch up, like I'll raise the pitch, and not until after will the platter actually spin faster, but thats probably a wear and tear thing.

But as I've said before, I knew i was buying entry level and from what I had read before i bought them I thought that I wouldn't be able to play at all, that's crap. They are better than i was expecting and not as bad as many people would have you believe. I think they are really good for a beginner, especially if they are not taking it seriously, have a limited budget (both of which are my excuses), or don't know if you'll like it.

yeah there is a difference on the motors, the tt200 has 2kg of torque (tt1650 has 1kg) and they have a wow & flutter rating of <0.2%.

I'm just amazed you think the str8-60 is a much better deck... I use to own a str8-60, 80, and 100. The POT's resistance would always change on the str8-60 and i had to calibrate it almost weekly. And speaking of plastic shit, the tt200 doesn't nearly have as much plastic as the stanton deck. Also, when i played w/ a tt200, i actually found it's pitch to be pretty acurate.

well i dont think my m8s had to do stuff with his decks like that and he definately didnt weekly , as far as i know. i guess its just different strokes for diff' folks maybe?! but i seriously hate my decks hearing u all defend them so much makes me think maybe i really did get given a dodgy pair the reviews i read before gettin them wer 90% very positive too!

i think il just make sure i buy the top o the line decks for my next pair, and hopefully wont have any trouble for a good few years...

Speaking (not literally ) from a owners point of view i would say they are the best decks that you can start on with a low budget in mind.

Yes, all those review about the pitch being very sensitive is very true & as Tu Face said you only have to touch it a tad to get it beatmatched.

After owing them for a year this xmas i have run into the problem of flucations knocking out of sync with the track your mxing though a quick correction with the pitch & your sorted, though this is after like a 1 hour 30 mins after using them.

I'm going to get shure whitelabels for them this xmas as i've still got the shitty groovetool cartridges. I want to try a bit of scratching & love hearing good quality sound so the whitelabels help there.

At the start of next year i intend to upgrade either to mk5g, ttx1, str8150 or the pdx2300 because i want to step it up a gear with djing!

funny how there's only one who has a problem with the tt-200's... I've got a pair, for the money it's a good buy. if it can hold it's pitch, it's good imo.

I 1st bought TT-1600's the torque was horrible. I then later bought tt 200's I love them good torque.

Althought I might someday get technics, I am really really thinking about moving into Final Scratch.
