I've seen a lot of comments about techs being The TT in clubs and if you aim at that get Techs.... same ol' same ol'
i'm not quotting cos its nothing personal, but
I don't buy it.
I own a Tech and a TTX. I've been learning wit'em and gotten pretty good. My 1rst 2 and only TTs. And I've never had a problem of being better w/ one table or the other. I got the hang of both and enjoy it. Two different tables and no related problems.

Which one is better??? whatever
If I should buy a 3rd, which would it be??? the cheapest

this is explained by the fact that you are used to using both regulary.. if you had only a pair of ttx1's, you would have to spend a few minutes readjusting to technics.

i have 2 vestax decks, and 1 technics.. before i bought my 3rd deck, i always had a 5 minute transition period where i couldn't mix it when i couldn't mix particularly brilliantly on techs (it was nothing to be bothered about, just 5 minutes to adjust the way you work the deck). now i have a tech to use as well as the vestax, i find i dont have that transition period, i can mix straight away with techs.

i personally don't see this as a barrier to playing in clubs or anything, its not that big a deal.

simple solution for ALL decks.. ride the pitch, and dont touch the platter.. I have been trying to make this my routine for a while now, and the mixes seem to be alot smoother.. wish i have started this in the beginning.

Totally agree. You can tweak the pitch much more precise than screwing w/ the platter. Thats the problem w/ lots of people including me. They get used to touching the platter than adjusting using the pitch. Then when they spin at a club, some decks may feel different and throw everything off. (like old stinky, 12year old techs that has been used as a ash tray and cup holder)

riding the pitch is not very good when done with the ttx1s because of the delay when changing the speed.

never noticed it. And I only use the analog outputs. Was your problem with any output. I could imagine the digital could have this problem

The pitch delay he's describing would affect the speed that the platter turns at(a delay in the increase of platter speed). This wouldn't be affected by the output selected, which only deals with what happens after the signal goes through the needle into the TT. I haven't noticed this delay with my TTX-1's, though.
