It gets old but is completely understandable.

Tobias you might like Austin as long as you don't have allergies <--why I'm leaving and not because of rednecks as there are few if any.

It's a very cultured place with art galleries, great live music, and many colleges.

As stated above it’s unfair to lump most city-dwellers in with the others.

I've lived in Texas since February and have enjoyed it. Though I've probably only actually been here about 6 months as I travel so much.

In Texas, the people are friendly, it's cheaper than other places I've lived, life is unstressful.

Your stories sound like they're from way out in the boonies. Every state has it's boonies--try hanging outside Fresno, CA, or anywhere but Vegas or Reno in Nevada.

After 8 days of constant rain in November, I went out of the country for the last 2 weeks. I got back today to...MORE RAIN. WTF???

Like everyone else said, an hour's drive outside the major cities and yes, that is true. But if you visit places in Houston like 3rd Ward, 5th Ward, Acres Homes, neighborhoods like that...better yet go ask the people there

I must be living in the wrong part of Texas.. tho this statement sounds like it'd reflect more on Autsin then Houston

Austin is the most expensive city in Texas to live. It's very stressful, but at the same time very relaxing and really easy to stray away from everyday problems. The country out here is unlike any in Texas and the rivers/lakes in the surrounding area are just amazing. Beautiful weather most of the year, even though it tends to get hot here and there. Nightlife is incredible and 6th street-4th street is legendary. People are 99% nice here, and everyone is open to everyone and everything. It's such a diverse city and a great one to live in. It honestly has changed my view on many things and for the better.

-Steve

I've lived in 4 different cities in texas. Austin being one of them.

Theres never been an overabundance of gnarled teeth or ugly chicks. In fact its been quite the opposite.
The women have to be some of the hottest on the planet.
I dont know where the Mcdonalds thing came from, and I dont even know how to respond to that.

Rednecks will always be around, but in the larger towns their less abundant.

I had to look that up.

eczema:
A noncontagious inflammation of the skin, characterized chiefly by redness, itching, and the outbreak of lesions that may discharge serous matter and become encrusted and scaly.
