I can cook anything I have the recipe for. It's not really that hard to follow directions. *shrug* I just make sure that I have tried it out before I share with multiple people.

But since I still live with the 'rents, I don't have to cook all too often.

i'm at that point where i could be a chef if i wanted to. i improvise sometimes. and i've cooked basically everything from mexican to oriental; it's just a matter of having the right ingredients and ideas, and it's hard sometimes with asian food.
also, i'm mostly a vegan now and i'm mostly eating healthy (NB: not light, but sometimes), so a lot of healthy vegan dishes from anywhere. fish and shrimp and salmon would probably be my specialty.
favourite ingredient: anything with an alcohol content.

as for baking, i can do it, but i choose not to most of the time. it's way too methodical, like being in the chemistry lab.

@taltul, you don't have to spend that much money on, say, a Ginsu knife. just make sure whatever you have is thoroughly sharpened. strange, but the sharper, the safer.

I practicly never use a recipe, much prefer simple stuff with good ingredients and well thought out use of them. And nice sauces, using wine to deglaze pans used for searing meat for example.

I cook most of my meals by myself. My mom taught it to me .. She is the better cook though .. I don't use any recipes either. Just have some basic ingredients and then improvise the rest...

i'm a pretty decent cook myself, and i love entertaining. i'm not so much a "from scratch" type of cook though because i don't have time. i'm very good at making quick meals and sort of spicing them up a bit with my own stuff and making it taste like i slaved in the kitchen for hours, when really it only took like 30 min.

i make great burgers (i marinate the beef with spices and teryaki sauce). i like sliced avocado on my burgers too.

i also make a great stuffed salmon filet. i buy them prestuffed with crab meat from the seafood market, and then i put spicy sechuan sauce, honey, and teryaki sauce..then i make sort of a nut crust topping with ritz crackers and chopped nuts w/ melted butter.

another great and easy way to make good veggies is to just add Kraft Italian dressing and let them simmer in a pan (covered) on medium for like 10 minutes. i do that with asparagus & fresh green beans.

Mmmmm, Slylee - you're making me hungry.

*goes to get some pretzels*

Here's a good one:

San Francisco Pork Chops

4 pork chops
1 teaspoon oil
----SAUCE----
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoon oil
4 tablespoon dry sherry or broth
4 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
----FINAL TOUCH----
2 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoon water

ingredients together and set aside. 2. Trim pork chops of fat and saute in hot oil until brown on both sides. 3. Pour sauce over chops. Cover tightly and simmer over low heat until chops are tender and cooked through, 30 to 35 minutes. Add a little water, (1 to 2 Tb) if needed to keep sauce from cooking down too much. Turn once. 4. Remove chops to platter. Stir in cornstarch dissolved in water. Cook until thickened. 5. Pour over chops and serve. Tips: Boneless pork loin chops can be used. Trim fat and pound to 1/4-inch thickness. Cooking takes only 20 minutes.

I find you can replace the pork with chicken very easily, especially since the chicken tends to marinate much better than pork more often then not. Also, for added spice, half of a fresh Jalapeno pepper cut into slices will make things more interesting

mostly a vegan?

I always thought you either were or you weren't?

Coz seafood is also a no-no for vegans.

Me, I like all foods and can cook really well, always used to help out my mom in the kitchen growing up, really came in useful when I moved to the UK

My fav dish to cook is Chilli Con Carne

So we are on pork chops huh?

Breaded Pork Chop Sliced and Fused with Onions and Peppers

1-Pound raw pork chop till semi-flat season with salt
2-Dip pork chop in egg white and into bread crumbs
3-Baked breaded pork chop for 20minutes @ 375degrees
4-Remove pork chops and slice into large formed slices
5-Cut Red and Yellow Peppers/Onions into thin slices
6-Saute 1/2 Cup of Peppers and Onions in medium heat skillet with oil and garlic
7-Lower skillet heat to low heat after thorougly saute
8-Mix 2 Eggs scrambled and pour into skillet with peppers and onions
9-Wait for eggs to begin to coagulate
10-Place stripes of 1 Pork Chop in the egg keeping the shape of the whole pork chop.
11-Wait for Egg to fully cook fusing Pork Chop, Peppers, and Onions.

Presentation - Darkness color of breaded porkchop, you have your yellow and red peppers under the porkchop with the egg. Garnish with blackpepper. Note this will be all stuck together from the egg.

Ultimate Mash
1-Boil 7 Red Skin Potato's (more potato's for larger portions)
2-Empty the water leaving potato's in the hot pot
3-Place 3 cloves of crushed garlic in another sauce pan - simmer and fry garlic
4-Place 1/2-1cup of butter in the garlic and melt down
5-Mash potato's in the hot pot add 1/2cup of milk
6-Pour melted butter and garlic into mash while mixing
7-Garnish mash potato's with shredded cheddar
(*frying bacon or ham works well with these potatos)

Simple Brocks
1-Boil Broccoli in water for 10mins
2-Add Salt to boiling water
3-Remove Broccoli (should remain al dente) garnish with shredded cheddar and butter.

*health concerns must note portion size. please use common sense if you plan on applying this receipe.

this is my signature dish...
Mash Potato's
Broccoli covered lightly with cheddar
Breaded Pork Chops Onions and Peppers

Enjoy =)
btw I like to cook too heheh
I have some more receipes if interested.
