But I'm asking, is there any sort of demand for qualified studio engineers? Or am I gonna get out of college and have nowhere to go?

There isn't a huge demand for studio engineers. Not like there is for clinical lab staff or molecular diagnostics. Music is all about who you know.

I am attending the RIT program (basically sound engineering) at musicians institute in hollywood. I already have a job at swinghouse records and im not done with the program yet.. ive gotten to work with nine inch nails and 2 different projects from rca records and ive only been working there for like 100 hours or so. i think if u want to be into the whole sound engineering thing you gotta be in hollywood or it will be just too hard to find work

Just so you know, this "electronic music course" isn't what you think it is. It has absolutely nothing to do with the electronic music genre, rather the electronic creation of music. It will likely be about digital recording, midi, stuff like that.

It's not going to be a class full of trance kids working on a big anthem together.

But like I said... I don't want or need them to teach me how to make EDM. I'll let my own creativity take over for that. What I want is to be taught the tools and how to work them.

But if you dig around their graduate programs, you'll see one of them includes the actual creation of music, in which your thesis will be something like an Audio CD or live performance.
