I think (even in the original, hahaha) it misses its industrial/EBM elemenths. But it's pretty much sung the same way as in most futurepop-songs, I guess.

Futurepop is the genre that has recently evolved out of EBM. The term was coined by ROnan Harris of VNV Nation. Typically pop melodies with driving synths and crisp clear vocals as oppossed to the heavy distored treated vocals in EBM and Industrial music. This is what one would hear most often upon going to a goth/industrial club although currently there is a backlash in the scene because it sounds too much like soft than it's precusors did. (Compare VNV Nation to Throbbing Gristle and you'll see what I mean).

A list of FP bands: Apoptygma Berzerk, Beborn Beton, NeuroticFish, Icon of COil De/VIsion, Z Prochek,.cut.rate.box., Assemblage 23, covanent, fischerspooner, neuroactive, fictional, angels and Agony, revolver1010, Oomph!, God MOdule, Melotron, Wolfsheim.

A basic way to describe Futurepop is Bad Trance with a whiny German singing.

Just about any site that has anything about goth and/or industrial will talk about FuturePop or at least EBM. www.metropolis-records.com is the leading label in the scene and also carries more traditional industrial music aswell.


By the way, I'm new. Hello All.

People are pushing this futurepop like its the new huge thing over here too. I like a bunch of Apoptygma berzerk songs but I dont think anyone around here is gonna buy into this sound. Its pretty much trance that is centered around an angry male vocal instead of a fluffy female one, and all the population here wants nothing to do with anything that isn't breaks or progressive anymore.


Nobody likes anything but drums, god help us!

I'm only a 3 hour drive away from better stuff tho I guess.


I dont understand people's tastes areound here, It seems like they put an extra affort into finding songs that have only percussions and a little bass in em, cuz I know every genre they pick from has songs in them that have more variation in the types of sounds used.


Its DnB, Breaks, Prog in different proportions minus anything that makes a noise that isnt a tiny beep or burst.


Thats just my opinion though, it seems as if im in the minority by disliking the stuff.
