Chicago Wolves are my team, though they're rather new to the AHL. I used to go to lots of P-Bruins when I lived in Boston and would venture down to Providence. Always lots of good fights!
The one good thing without the actual NHL season is I don't feel bad about veering away from the actual rosters in my PS2 season this year. My Blackhawks are much better with Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte, Chris Chelios and Ed Belfour back.
On that comment about Worcester, why would they move to Peoria? There was the Peoria Rivermen, who were there already there & the Blues' minor league team. I'm assuming they may have disbanded after the IHL dissolved? |
If I could remember back in fall, I think the owners of the ECHL Rivermen wanted to fold their team to make room for a higher minor-league franchise, this time with the AHL. The St. Louis Blues who own the IceCats have entered an agreement to sell their AHL affiliate to the Rivermen owners. Last month, the AHL CEO/President, Dave Andrews, announced that the league's Board of Governors approved of the transfer.
There's still a possibility that Worcester will stay in the AHL next season. The latest rumor was that there were four teams who were interested in moving to Worcester. One team includes the Portland Pirates. Representatives of the Pirates were in town recently to check out the facilities and discuss a possible move to the DCU Centre (formerly 'Centrum Centre') in Worcester. This is all I've heard so far.
