OMG Rapture 3x in 1 night I'd slit my wrists. That song is sooooooooo played out. I heard it every fuckin night in Ibiza. yuck.

Tiesto's 'Close to U' (Magik Muzik remix) kills Rapture!

Here's my take on the nite... we got there around 2am, got inside, since I was with my girlfriend, we didn't have to wait long in that long ass line, more like a mob scence, with the NYPD keeping everything in order(or trying to). Once we get in, we have to wait for our friends(all guys) to get in, since they were only letting groups of girls and couple in first. That's kind of different, since almost everyone that got in already had a ticket. Anyways.... the place was packed with people, and the vibe was definitely buzzing in there. People were dancing all over the place, and it was definitely a cleaner crowd then Twilo, or most of the other afterhours crackhouses in NYC. Well... we sat thru about an hour of the 1st DJ, don't know who he was... but when he dropped "Rapture" the place was definitely feeling it. Rui Da Silvia performed two songs, the 1st was "Touch Me" which is classic, the 2nd was a new track that was average at best. Finally 3:30 rolls around, and some idiot announces Tiesto, and he drops Magik Journey, which was the 1st track on his CD he releases in Japan over late summer. It was a perfect start to a quality set, which wasn't all unknown tracks, but most people know what they get when Tiesto spins. I wouldn't compare him to Oakenfold, because he plays alot different style of music, but it does have a problem of not letting certain records rest. A few tunes I didn't really want to hear were Flesh, Hidden Flight & Silence, although during Silence... when he lowered the track, and the crowd sung 2 verses, it was quite impressive. I think Tiesto treats his sets more like performance in the U.S., but by the crowd reaction, he did everything right, minus the few skips of the records, which did bum me out, and the group I was with. One of the things I noticed about that night, was the fact that everyone was there for the music, which is the same reason I go out. There were all kinds of people, and since it was 21+, there weren't alot of candy ravers there, like Twilo used to attract. Also, the face that he interracted with the crowd so much, definitely made alot of fans happy. He threw about 5 or 6 signed records into the crowd, and he signed my girlfriend's picture, which I took of her in Tiesto from the past spring. I think he was surprised to see her hand him the picture for an autograph. Anyways... anyone that was there knows what I'm saying, the atmosphere at a Tiesto gig is like none other. Sure, he played alot of familiar tunes, but that made for an enjoyable evening. It was definitely one of my more memorable nights out... and I got chills when I saw people in the crowd holding a big U.S. flag right next to a Netherlands flag. For one night.... everyone forgot about Sept. 11... and Tiesto made it possible.

TwiloG, I didn't hear Tiesto play "Ich Will", unless it was a dub? Also, I know he didn't play "Destination Sunshine."

Enigma, if you were on the floor, the system sounded like shit, with way too much bass, but upstairs, near the bar, it sounded good, albeit way too loud. Everyone I went with was deaf on the way home.

Also, I found it refreshing that it was an older crowd. Are you trying to say that the little candy ravers aren't annoying? I didn't miss those little bastards swinging fucking glowsticks all around the place. Save that shit for your room, you know?

Also... forget about Rapture, the hottest vocal is Alex Bartlett's "Amnesia" - Greencourt remix.

Trancer thought it was Joy Kitikonti- Joy Energizer. It was definately Ich will. He most certainly did play Destination Sunshine towards the end of his set.

Regardless there was no room to go off till later on. It was an older crowd yes but they were obnoxious & rude. IMO the crowd sucked. I don't appreciate guys coming up from behind & housing me. I need my fookin space! The guys looked GOOD from far but far from good. The dancers were fuckin HOT though.

ps: Alex Bartlett- Amnesia is cheddar. I haven't heard the green court remix though.

Sup evryone should have what good pics i got from Sat nite scanned soon - fuckin smoke machine messed up a bunch of them. Anyway Twilogoddess reason i thought Ich Will was Joyenergizer was coz Ich Will definitely does have quiet a bit of samples from Joyenergizer - but i just downloaded Ich Will and u r definitely right - he played Ich Will.
I don't remember hearing Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine (Tiesto Power Remix) - but then again i did leave dance floor to get some water at one point in Tiesto's set
Why the hell did they use the smoke machine so much - out of all special effects - i like most - is the classic strobe - so awesome

Beggars can't be choosers folks. And this was one of the best post-Twilo parties in NY.

I have to agree with Tranzlucent. The vibe at the place was incredible and I thought the crowd was friendly enough. I guess it's all in who you meet. Also, I was so hyped to see Tiesto that he could have played The Electric Slide and I would have liked it.

I personally had an awesome time. I would say better than PvD at Avalon in Aug. I know! Sacrilege! Flame me if you will.

ok just to set the tone...i was the one who brought the big american flag and netherlands flags for people to sign...thanks to all those who gave us your two cents...and we did get the nl flag sighned by tiesto...hahaha. so, getting to my point, you guys are all just to picky about your parties. considering all the shit that has just gone on here (09/11/01...hence the point of the flag) we are lucky that tiesto even came here...he could have just cancelled. ok, world sucks but in this scene it's all about the music and the people. tiesto definately took care of the music...sorry if he played the tracks you know...but you'd probably complain if he didn't. track selection is just as crucial a part as the actual mixing of vinyl...tiesto's tracks are popular be he made them that way...so show him some credit..he played his style. as far as the people that you thought sucked...i think it was one of two things that happened...the first is that you ran in to a bad seed (sorry if that was the case), otherwise its your own damn fault...why don't you loosen up and talk to some strangers...all the people i met over the course of the night were great (stephanie...thats you)....bottom line - ok, the music was a little too loud, the place wasn't the greatest...but you got to all see tiesto make nyc smile...no need to complain about that. this is my third time seeing tiesto (1st time was the guv in to, canada, 2nd was gatecrasher@limelight back in march)and i still think it was the best. i've seen some of the greatest dj's in the shittiest of places and iv'e even been to the greatest parties in the world like MOS @ the millenium dome (yeah mealie)...and my review was that this was up there...tiesto rocked house and it was just a classic trance addicts dream...so to all those above...loosen up and enjoy life a little!
