Ok, when you do it by ear, and go to mix that sogn into a set, does it come off track at all when it's mixed in? Or does it flow perfectly without havign to mess with the pitch to get it back on?

If you are trying to mix on a computer w/o having to mix... you might want to check out Ableton Live. That is the program Sasha used to make his newest mix.

I'm referring to after you've finnished editing your track by ear in Acid for example, record it onto cd, and then go to play it in a regular mix. Lets say you edited the intro...when you get to the specific part you added or deleted, is it noticible for any reason...like will the beats come off because your editing wasn't done 100% mathematically for example?

Ok, I think you would be able to get it close enough if you just tried it. With my first edit it definitly has tighter pitch then a lot of my records

If you are still worried about this (and it sounds like you are) just make the loop like was mentioned earlier and have it playing then fire up your TTs or CDJs and beatmatch it. If you can't get it try adjusting your loop (or else you suck at mixing ).

I cant help you if you are using Acid.. yer gonna need the Acid junkies help on that. With SoundForge, it is simple. It takes an ear as everything in music needs to be done by ear. If you want to take a mathmatical approach, find 2 points in the song and loop them.. such as a 32-beat loop. Get the loop exactly set and find out how much time the loop takes up. If the intro is 32 beats, use that same time format and got at it that way. Make sure to use markers as it is easier to line up the markers and where you want a portion of the intro to enter the regular song.

Flows perfectly - with the edits I've done, I use the Beatmapper wizard's detected speed and then adjust accordingly, because it's guess at the speed has never been 100% spot-on.

I'm a Cleveland too .... but I don't actually dj but I know a lot of them here and we have a slew of great talent.

Nope I sometime go to Wish for Tuesday night open decks but I am a grad student and it is often tough for me to devote a whole weekday night like that That said this is mostly a hobby for me and I don't have great DJ ambitions (nor have I aggressivly tried to market myself).

For something on topic... when I did mine I did the mathematical method that onecler mentioned (using 16 bars I believe).
