When you get into capture mode, goto "Video>Source...". That allows you to switch inputs the same way you do in the ATI player.

If you've got problems saying there are drivers missing... i'd say something else is wrong (perhaps with the card's drivers). i reccomend getting the latest drivers for your video card from http://support.atitech.com
i cant really tell the problem tho, unless i see the exact error message. Personally, i have an Ati All-in-wonder 128 PRO (32 meg version) card and it can capture video directly in the TV player (by pressing ctrl-r or the record button)... if you cant record with that then i'd definitely say you have a driver problem.

Thumbs up i have a similar question...

what would you need (prog, system requirements) to edit a video? no capturing involved, basically just cutting parts out, and maybe inserting a few clips? also, can you change the sound?

any help would be appreciated...

thanks

There are many software tools you can use to edit videos (avi & even mpeg) such as Adobe Premiere, Ulead VideoStudio & MGI VideoWave. Premiere is a professional editing package which has the steepest learning curve & is expensive, but for a novice wanting a few simple edits, I would reccomend Ulead VideoSuite because it's far more intuitive. MGI videowave is also intuitive, but i know little about it.
Ulead VideoSuite: http://www.ulead.com/vs/features.htm
MGI VideoWave: http://www.mgisoft.com/products/videowave5/index.asp
Adobe Premiere: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/main.html
as far as changing sounds, im not too familiar with Ulead VS (i use premiere for edits & it does that)- but im guessing it's possible with VS too.

For sys regquirements, its BEST to have a fast CPU so you can render effects & video encodes faster (400-500 mhz is respectable, you could go lower but edits will take longer) and sufficient RAM (128 is good, but i havent tried lower). Depending on how long your video is gonna be, you'll need alot of free HD space. A 1-2 gigs is usually fine if the video is a few minutes long.. but the longer the video, the more hard drive space you'll need.
