I went to France this summer and on their "rap/r&b" radio Station (Skyrock) they've only played VERY commercial shits like Usher, Black eyed peas, Beyonce etc.. and their french rap was like some cheesy/sucky french R and B...
IMO french rap is dead (for some years!) |
Well, you'll have commericla music everywhere, it's what kids want. That dosent neccessicarly mean the music is dead. I'm sure theres thousands of MC's and DJ's mixing up parties, battling, and just rhyming for fun, and not caring about money. You're right about the music turning somewhat commerical, look at Cut Killer's mixes, nothing but commercial r'n b and rap, but hes still a great DJ and turntablist, despite what he plays. The is only dead if you look at the commercial side of it. Compare American MTV shit to say a very underground independant label like Definitive Jux, allthough they're getting commercial. If you pay attention to the mainstream, it's all you're gunna hear.
