This is still highly debateable. There is no scientific proof that burn in actually exists. Many people believe that it is simply a person's ears adapting to the sound, and is entirely a psychological thing. Same goes for speaker burn in, cable burn in, amplifier burn in.. I've heard many many discussions on this and it's never been solved (I even heard of double blind listening tests comparing zipcord to multi-thousand dollar wires, and the people could not consistantly tell the difference. just another example of psycho-acoustics).

Anyways, grados are an ok choice, especially if you arn't planning on using a headphone amp (although the amp does help). Grados are quite coloured though, and add a lively characteristic to the sound.
If you want some with slamming bass, one of the best choices is the Beyerdynamic DT 770. Great for trance! They are around $170.
I personally use AKG K-400's, and they have a very well defined sound. The bass is definately alittle thin, but paired up with a headphone amp they produce a delicate sound that does have some energy behind it. Price on these is around $150. I wouldn't recommend them if you don't plan on getting an amp though.
Audio Technica is a good company to look into, and they have a wide range of phones going from $50 - $2,400. If you're willing to spend around $200, the ATH-A900 Art Headphones are a pretty good choice.
Sony MDR-CD3000 are one of the best pairs you can get (aside from the super high end ie.orpheus), if you're willing to pay $400.. Many people have claimed that these phones are one of the most musical and accurate phones on the market.
And of course in the 400~ pricerange are the Sennheiser HD 600s. They are also high regarded, and match the CD3000's in terms of quality.
