DJ Bon, what you just mentioned is actually supposed to be used with gin instead of vodka. the infamous gin & tonic, its great stuff, got drunk off it last month actually... its great in a glass with ice and a slice of lime 
you also wanted some ideas to get away with the foul taste of vodka, well what we used to do was take a bottle of "meetz petel" that you have in isreal, you can also use the lemon flavored one. now in one of those tall shot glasses, the ones you pound for tequila, fill it half way with vodka, 1/4 syrup, and 1/4 sprite or tonic, you can do that for glasses to but if its in a glass you have the luxury of mixing and adding ice.
