That prob is my biggest problem with girls... I never catch the signs. I sometimes will catch a sign.. but I will 9/10 times interpret it wrongly. Girls are so freaken greek. But i love them so.

we're not that confusing, really. i bet emily likes him cause he has been a nice guy to her and she is probably just too shy or insecure to try and say anything. this is probably a bit biased of an opinion based on my own personal experience but i think the guilt and stuff should be on her. he should not have to feel being an ass just cause he is a nice guy (if my theory is correct). she needs to learn to be assertive and get guys who like her back. dating and finding good guys will never be easy and she may as well learn that now.

you're probably right there - but it is so tough for most men to interpret 'hints'... another girl (the one i asked out & got rejected from) was hanging out with me all the time about a month or so ago, waiting around for me to talk etc and being way more friendly/keen than this Emily girl (my mate says it's just cuz of how nervous she was). Now if i was asked who i thought was the one that fancied me, i would have said that girl - not emily!

I never wanted to know really in the first place but my mate couldn't keep his big mouth shut - he just has to tell people stuff. And now it's too late really for this situation, I know and if I keep pretending that I don't at some stage the shit's gonna hit the fan.

btw i do have her address, and her email addy, but i am not gonna send teh letter! well maybe i would if i can write something good enough to sum up the whole situation...

the thing is i know how hard it is to tell someone that you really like them, but you do have to take the plunge otherwise you'll never know or lose out... just what looks like has happened to emily.

but that doesn't stop me feelin bad for her - in order to protect my mate victor i have to talk normally to emily, so the obvious topic is her good mate steph, which I know must really be killing her

and there's still the problem of how to sort the situation of getting steph's number - it seems to me that because emily doesn't know I know she likes me, she's still hanging to something and perhaps trying to stop me getting with steph. but if i let her know that i do know then my mate is in shit...

she was probably really nervous cause she knew you liked her and was afraid she was going to do something to hurt you without meaning to but didnt want to stop hanging out with you to avoid hurting you cause she liked having you as a friend. if that makes any sense. i've definitely been there before.

That's why you take the risk. You can't control what other people think and act, but you do direct your own destiny. As such, all that you can do is take the chance, no matter how small it may seem, that someone whom you know you like feels the same way about you. That's how it goes, especially when you're not good at picking up the subtleties of the opposite sex (you're definitely not alone in that).
