The challenge of course is to have good music with a "known" enough name in the gay community to get a lot people to come out, rather than just the EDM loving gays, hahaha. This will be especially challenging this year after the capacity fiasco last year and with Barris Harris, well, sucking...MO and the side room DJs, Sarah and Patty in particular, were a welcome respite from the main room hell.

There are good DJS who would have crossover appeal...people who spin quality music and who will also keep everyone happy. Personally, I'd love a night of epic trance ala Armin, Scott Bond, Rank 1 too...but let's keep this discussion serious and realistic, haha:

Steve Lawler
- good tribal would bring people out for sure. Whatever he costs, it would be worth it, even if tix didn't sell out. Word of mouth would bring a TON of people out next year if the music is legitimately good this year, I think. I know full-on gay-club-only gays who went to iDream a few years ago specifically for Lawler.

Sander Kleinenberg
- Sander is known enough, I think, in the gay community, thanks to doing some his share of mainstream remixes.

Deko-ze
- I'd *love* for him to spin the main party...he TORE IT UP out on the street on Pride weekend. People were going insane. He's really boosted his profile in the last couple of years in the gaybourhood and would draw a crowd. International appeal for the out-of-towners...well...I dunno?

Gabriel & Dresden
- again, they've have enough top 40-ish remixing credits to their name to be known enough to the community...plus they're American, right? So the Americans who come up would be familiar with them (assuming they still spin together?)

Tom Stephen
- he's spun at Fly before, no?

Hex Hector
- the last "good" Unity, IMHO, a few years ago.

I know that Lawler is probably the only "big name" we'd have a chance at getting who would also be a truly viable option to get a large gay crowd to come out (I think?).

I think we should give people some credit...the gay community does love it's shitty circuit and diva house, but many do like other forms of music...but no one is willing to take a chance and bring in some TALENT. I wish we could stop pandering to the circuit guys for the big parties...but I understand that's mainly wishful thinking on my part.

btw...is there still an opportunity to volunteer (and preferably somehow work with you guys)? I'd be interested...

Ferry Corsten now that would be something! As to the circuit boys, they were doing fine at Fly when I used to go there, and the BPM are right up there. I was at Tiesto at the Docks in December with three gay friends, and we estimated that the crowd was around 25% gay. The right venue, the right promotion (I heard horror stories about last years organization, but I have no idea if they were true or not), and the circuit boys, along with everyone else will be out in force. Hell it might just wake the Gay dance scene up in this city.

^^^ 25% might be stretching it a bit but there was considerable representation, I agree. Given those odds, I really should have chatted up this guy who was beside us for the last 1-2 hours of Tiesto's set...he seemed to be by himself and having a great time, so I worried that I might kill his buzz and freak him out if he turned out to be str8

I do agree on potentially "waking up" the gay scene with some quality DJs...absolutely. I honestly do think that the community would be very receptive to *good* music...if given the chance.

I say bring in Offer Nissim from Israel, along with Maya for live vocals. She is exploding all over Europe. Check out their releases on Star 69. Offer is THE #1 DJ in Israel, has headlined Love Parade there to 20,000+ people on the beach, & is opening for Tiesto in Eilat next week. He alone has packed the same # of people in as Tiesto or any of the other headliners they bring to those desert parties (as seen in the Tiesto "Flight 643" video seen on BPM).

Can't say I've heard one of his sets yet, but I know Maya's performance would be a great thing.

Deko-ze is an amazing choice but he is already spinning for us on Sunday night (as far as I know). Lawler is a great idea as are most of the other suggestions so far.

Our starting DJ for Saturday will be interesting in a super-gay kind of way. I'll spill it after he sends back the signed contract.

The Saturday party is going to be at Kool Haus. The Docks is a better venue for this event but after the logistics and PR problems we had last year, it was decided to have it somewhere else (other than The Docks). I hope we will be back there next year.

MarkT, that guy hugging the speaker kept glancing over and checking you out. He waited and waited for you to step up but, when the lights came on, he gave up the ghost and walked out. A little more courage and you could have been smiling for weeks! :-))))

I wish I'd know that at the time...all I needed was the tiniest of indications and I'd have said hi perchance he's a TA or might see this thread *cough*messagemeplease*cough* lol

While the patio and sound system are as good as it gets at the Docks...KH's sound is decent and the location is better. More people may decide to just show up at the door on the night of the event, I'd think?

I'm really loving the Docks as a venue after a great Halloween party there and Tiesto...hopefully it works out sometime in the future...but a change for this year was probably a good decision, even if just from a PR standpoint.

I like nat's suggestion...If he's headlining an event like the Love Parade, he'd have some wide appeal. I still think Lawler is the one to target though
