My 2 cents on the dieng issue.
Why does Trance die every week on this board? Basically the answer lies in the people that listen to it, not the ones that make it (aka producers and maybe djs)
You see, people can create but also destroy, now destroying a style that is spread world wide is hard to accomplish, but you can destroy it for your self..right?
I'll take my self for an example.
I thought Trance was getting boring yes, mainly due ASOT ( don't see this as a flame please to the ASOT fans , am trying to explain something) I listend to ASOT each week, and yes same old same old, every week maybe one or tweo new tracks.
Now at this point am destroying the genere i love, you see am closing my self from all other things and won't know what the other side is.
So i suddenly started to listen to other things and djs, Trance, house, prog etc. Each time i heard a set, i thought wow, i feel great.
Now suddenly M.I.K.E spins at Global dj broadcast for 2 hours..and i thought let me tune in for once..after that show, i thought Trance is more allive than ever before..FOR ME..Read those two words carefully..FOR ME!
You see, if you keep doing the same thing over and over and over, you mite loose intrest in it. It gets predictble and something like a routine. I must admit at one point i was like, oo here comes the snareroll...oo the break..oo the climax..It's how you work, you keep doing the same thing over and over.
This means i revived something again. Maybe not for you or your best friend, but for me.
Instead of thinking is trance dieng? just try some other stuff, see for your self how you can make it enjoyble again. if that won't work, then your really not in to trance anymore. But that doesn't means it is dead.

Re: Why a lot of people do not listen to trance anymore

Here is why, step by step:
Trance is elusively the easiest to make. So everyone is making it.
You have people who make EuroCheese but call it Trance.
They give bad names to Trance when they are not Trance.
EuroCheese is bubblegum so they enter music charts very easily. They become annoying because they aren't good music and they get too much airplayed.
People who weren't into Trance in the first place grew angry as they get annoyed by EuroCheese. They do not and cannot distinguish between Cheese and Trance. So they swear to hate Trance due to their confusion.
Trance requires people to take time and let go to build the "trancy" feeling. Nowadays, who has time anymore?
Trance and Eurocheese tend to sound alike in the intros. People who do not know Trance never get to learn to distinguish between the two. They never learn how to properly listen to Trance.
As EuroCheese occupies the chart, these people grow even more angry at Trance.
If Trance is dead, the ones to blame are Eurocheese supportors and those who never take time to have time to distinguish between real Trance and EuroCheese.

[didnt read the whole thread but...]
basically you just re-iterated the same thing about 9 times. it IS true to a certain extent, but i reckon 50% of the reason, is the same reaosn why i dont like trance anymore.
i got into trance [as most people on this board know it without getting technical] in 98, and back then most trance tracks were very euphoric very uplifting, where as now a days, everythings waaaaaay too melodic. i dont like any trance anymore, purely cos i think its boring, its not exciting anymore. BUT, to the purists, ppl that liked trance way back then and still do now, its still good as trance IS their music. like techno has its picotto [technos version of armin, pvd, tijs etc] and it has its umek, beyer, liebing etc etc which are technos big guns, and also going deeper than that there are bigger techno producers and DJs that only techno purists appreciate, cos its theyre thing, and theyll follow techno's directions for years to come. but with all genres of music, they will become a fad for so long... then theyre not appreciated as much.. then the people that still listen to this music, are the purists and elitests....
and then on the other hand, is the people that like a genre before it becomes popular, and continue to like it when its popular, then when it all becomes a bit honky-dory, and the good ole bedroom producers come out, its time to find another taste in music and then bash the previous.
