Yeah, J00F includes some psy in his sets sometimes, but he's mostly known for "regular trance", and that's why the psy-heads were so upset when an "euro-trance-artist" like him did a remix of the goa classic Mahadeva....

Armin van Buuren and John 00 Fleming is good examples of euro-trance artists in the true meaning of the term.

"Eurotrance" does not simply mean trance from Europe. Armin is epic and Dutch trance. JOOF is progressive trance with some psy (maybe even progressive psy, if you want to go out on a limb).

I would define "Eurotrance" as Lasgo, Flip & Fill, DJ Sammy, etc. Basically eurodance mashed with blaring epic lines and saccharine vocals.

Is Yahel considered Psy-Trance or Goa-Trance?

No, actually I agree. I thought that after posting. His style is much more energetic and psy-influenced than is used to be. Which I find rather nice, actually.

Ugh, the psytrance versus goa trance issue is awful, but Yahel is really not either, for the most part. Some of his stuff could qualify as "morning trance" but most of it is not really psychedelic at all.

Yahel is not psytrance, some of his tracks could be heard as a bit goa trance...

by the way The muses rapt - Spiritual healing is not psytrance but more trance with some goa elements, same for Yahel.

Goa trance:

Chi-AD - Anno Domini
Hallucinogen - LSD
Total eclipse - Waiting for a new life
Chi-AD - Eye am the I
Etnica - Trip tonite
Etnica - Vimana

Psychedelic trance:

Dark nebula - Dark nectar
Battle of the future Buddhas - Neuroglider
Logic bomb - Halojaner
Toi doi - Replicant

In short psytrance is less melodic and much more twisted. Some Halluciniogen tracks are a mix between goa and psy. All the sound you can listen to nowaydays is psytrance, goa trance does'nt exist anymore.

yeah and the funny thing is that when Astral Projection released their latest album Ten with new remixes of their old classics even the most conservative psydudes realized that J00Fs remix of Mahadeva was far better than any other remakes

lol you mean the remix of Mahadeva is better than the remixes of Nilaya, Power gen...sure those remixes ruined the original tracks, compared with them the remix of Mahadeva is quite good indeed (impossible to make better than the original though)

yeah exactly. most of the new remixes were plain boring israfullon with no heart at all. but Mahadeva was indeed powerful. I bet J00F won quite a big victory there

I still think artists like Astral and Astrix are Goa and artists like The Delta and X-Dream are Psy.
