The iPod Integration Kit for Mercedes-Benz will debut this April in the US with the newly redesigned 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and Volvo will offer two iPod connectivity options for their entire 2005 US model line. Nissan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari will announce details of their iPod integration solutions later this year, allowing customers to enjoy high-quality sound through their car’s stereo system, easily access their entire music library and control their iPod using their car’s standard controls. These companies join BMW and MINI Cooper who began providing integrated iPod solutions in 2004. |
Whiff... whiff... what is it that I smell???? Ah, oh yes, a class-action lawsuit in the making. Sheet... if I was an MP3 player manufacturer, I'd be filing my anti-trust lawsuit paperwork just about now, citing "unfair trade practices", "market cornering", etc. Why???
From a consumer standpoint: I don't want to buy a fecking iPod to make it work with my car controls. I want my iRiver to work - unless they provide that option, that leaves me with the only choice - iPod.
From manufacturer standpoint: Why would consumers shopping for mp3 player for their car purchase our product when we cannot be as seamlesly integrated into the car stereo system as iPod?
Apple just painted a huge "bulls eye" marker on their back. And that's why I think the shares are down. Expect lawsuits by Creative, Samsung, iRiver, and others to start pouring in.
again, apple blows.
