When I start to sequence on PCs, I've the same problem: HOW CAN I DO DRUMS?

So I start with REDRUM from REASON, and it's very good, works fine, but I like to use CUBASE. So I've to REWIRE it.

The problem with REWIRE is you have to open Reason after opening Cubase, and Reason has more features that I want (and keeping 2 programs opening without need isn't cool).

Then I come to VSTs. The first one was the LM7 Drum Vst included with Cubase.

Steinberg LM7 is nice, but editing patches isn't easy. You have to edit a .txt (you can also use an editor from the Steinberg website) or replace the original samples, but I want a litte more features like play Bass Drum on channel 1, and snares on chan 2 AND load samples from the front panel.

So the LM4-Mark II solves my problem. It has 18 slots so you can layer many samples on one slot, and can control almost everything you want on a drum player. I've created 2 or 3 patches with has all my needed samples, loops and fx.

Reading other posts, I tested the Native Instruments BATTERY 2.0. It has nice layout, easy to use, 72 slots, many many features BUT it takes a LOT OF YOUR PROCESSOR.

But with Battery 1.0 , you have almost the same features, 54 sample slots (with can be layared too) but your processor won't be eaten by one vst.

In fact, you can use ANY sampler to sequence drums (since the sampler can assing on each note an different sound), but you have to balance features that you USE with processor and memory consuming.

I don't know the date, but check:

http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?battery_us

I think they don't sell the Battery 1 anymore.
