Actually, if respect and fame is such a big thing for you, you're more likely to get respect (and repeat bookings) from the promoter if you play a carefully programmed, slower, gradually building warm-up set than belting out all your big tunes straight away. The upcoming DJ's will respect you because you're being courteous enough to (a) the promoter, (b) them, and, most importantly (c) the night itself to make sure the party is built up nicely, and clubbers will respect you a lot more because there's nothing more intimidating to them than an empty dancefloor pumping out demonically fast tunes.
The night isn't about you, you know: it's about the flow of the music and the pace of the party. And may I politely suggest you're probably DJ'ing for the wrong reasons if all you care about is the fame. I'm surprised you're getting any bookings at all if your attitude is like that.
