Was it a standard Whiplash or is it a bone based injury?
If it's muscle based you should get some sports massage therapy on your neck as ultrasound isn't that good on areas like the neck.

After that you should also be doing rehabilitation exercises to strengthen it.
Too many people don't do rehab on simple injuries that later become causes of some quite serious conditions.

If it's bone based speak to a Cyropractor and then a sports massage therapist. You need to get that sorted, don't let the pain just go away by itself as you will get it back with interest!!!!

Just incase you are wondering, although I work as a DJ I am actually a fully qualified Sports Therapist and Nutritional adviser by trade. (Have done plenty other things besides but another story).

On the subject of Headphones
I swear by the HD25s (Not SPs) as they are light and have excellent sound. I find the sound just a little but lacking in bass but on the whole they are very good for DJing and their sound isolation is probably about the best I have heard.

Cheers

Well, believe it or not the neck problem is actually what doctors believe was an ongoing eye problem where my left eye wouldnt move as much as the right so I would normally move my head instead of looking from side to side. Since it was only the left eye and even though both eyes are now fine, I developed very strong neck muscles on the right side of my neck, not visible by the eye, but if you were to press hands on each side of my neck you'd notice an immeadiate difference. Doctors say that even though the eye problem is fixed now the way the problem efected my neck is very bad.

We were at a complete stop when someone slammed into us from behind at what i believe was about 35-45mph... I was in the back seat not wearing a seatbelt and got slammed more or less with whiplash... Both cars were totaled and a kid in the other car had a severely broken nose. Doctors say the whiplash may have further agrivated the injury.

Anyway, i was enrolled into physical therapy for about 3 weeks when i decided that sleeping was more of a priority then getting my neck fixed.... Big mistake, lol.

Ok, my stanton pro 3000 headphones just snapped,
i had them for 3 months and the plastic side just snapped off and the right headphone is held by the wire. I loved the stantons, the sound and everything, but now

Anyhow, the store where i baught them from is nice enough to exchange them for either the same or another brand.

I was thinking of going for the Sony MDR V700DJ.

Should i stick with the stantons? go for the sonys? or go for something else?

Thanks

What you probably have is a build up of scar tissue that is in effect weakening the muscles in the neck.
That fact that you also have an inbalance may also be putting more of a strain on the injured area itself.
Strangely enough the muscle attatchment of the neck muscles is also on the ocipital bone at the back of the skull so it is actually related to sight anyway.
You may also find that you experience headaches as the covering that sits around the muscles also attatches to the fascia around the brain and can give you headaches as it will pull the fascia tighter (Similar to the feel of a migrane).

A trained hand should be able to pick out the areas affected by scar tissue and work them out of there and realign the muscle fibres, that way the only thing you have to focus on is regaining the balance of strength in your neck.

In principle a whiplash injury is exactly the same as any other type of muscle tear, but because it affects the neck and is close to the head people tend to attatch an unusual amount of fear and worry to the injury it self. If you pull a muscle in your leg the mechanical principle is the same but you just have less nerves that are affected by it.

It is still not too late for you to sort your neck injury out and I strongly recomend that you seek the advice of a proffessional in your area as it would be not only a shame but foolish not to get this condition sorted out.

If you get it sorted you will most likely in years to come probably not remember me but if you don't then when the trouble really starts you may remember me as the guy you wish you had listened to.

-------------------------------

Back to headphones:
I also use the Senns HD25 when I'm producing but you have to be careful not to whack too much bass onto your mix as when you put it on a real system you will notice that everything sounds way to bassy.

Cheers and good luck with the neck
Nem

I'd recommend going for something else, in your case. The Sonys are poorly balanced so that one wrong move could make those swivel covers snap. Moreover, the Sonys are no longer made in Japan - they're now made in the Philippines. And those Sonys made in the Philippines generally have screechier, harsher highs than the rolled-off, muddy highs of the Japanese-made V700's.

I agree with Nem, get your neck checked out.

My recommendation, slightly biassed, is check out the Sony V6 headphones. I love them.. and I think they sound better than the 700's as they are more of a producing/studio headphone.
