No, pop music = popular music. Music that has entered popular culture through radio for example. Music intended for mass consumption. Music that caters to a broad audience. Music with chorus easily memorable melodies/vocals. Melodies and vocals that you can hum and sing. That get stuck in your head. Easily accessible music. Music you hear on the radio. Music you see on MTV or other music video channels.
Not all pop music has vocals, and not all music with vocals is pop.

No, the fact that you see an epic trance track regularly on european top 20 dance charts makes it pop music. The fact that several have made it in to widespread play in almost every country including america makes it pop music.
