Odd. I love the music now just as much as I did when I first began listening to it. I think you guys just get to technical with this stuff instead of simply trying to enjoy it.

I think this is more nostalgia and bad luck finding good parties than it is a real degradation.

we are exposed to a great deal of shitty trance that is true

but there are still fun times to be had and good parties to go to

Although the crowd that is out there isn't that same crowd I imagined it was before I started going out.

I like that bedroom producers are getting more attention

Trance has largely lost its way, yes. The good news is that it's temporary.

JOOF is pushing a good sound. I still think tech-trance would save us deus ex machina, but no one seems to be pursuing compared to 2003.

please enough of these stupid as threads. when are you people gonna

give up worrying so much about "how much trance has lost its touch",

and just start looking for better music. Trance has not lost its

touch, thats just impossible. That would be like saying rock music

has lost its touch. Its just that the innovative productions that

were around 5 years ago just arent around anymore. The passion for

the music has died out a lot. MONEY ruins everything in time and

n00bs worshiping all the same djs ruins the scene. They djs know

they got their money reguardless so why are they gonna put their

heart into anything. This happens to every form of music even the

greatest forms of all time. They go through a period of glory, then

fame, and then descent. What needs to happen is what my sig. says.

The entire industry needs to work together to get what they want. I

myself know i have been looking for that new sound for years with

moderate sucess, even though none of it has ever been completely up

to date. Get over it and move on to different kinds of

music or work towards promtoing innovation in the music industry in

both dj'ing and production. PLEASE enough of these stupid threads.

And where do superstar djs come from?

It seems anyone who likes to sit here and bash the people who still like trance become uber 1337 Zabiela fans, thinking that zabiela is some big underground prodigy, and are in awe of his oh so complex and amazing scratching skills.

I can assure you he was nothing but a bedroom dj for years.

When it comes down to it, it's all about what you define as trance. ive found that this is largely related to when you got into EM (this is, of course, a generality, not a rule). If you love whats going on today in the "ttrance" scene, then no, trance has not lost anything. In fact, it's probably gained. If you hate the current offerings from the genre, then yes, trance has lost it's touch.

But in the end, it's all subjective.

No.

To all those who say yes, maybe "your" sound doesn't exist anymore. Trance has def. undergone changes over the year as new sounds are developed. It's an evolution.

Yes. why ?

Too many producers are using software synths that every man and his dog (who knows how to crack reason or cubase) can get their hands on. They are then taking these sounds and remaking classic tracks with them. In history this has been done but the main tracks which did it, age of love, cafe del mar etc, the remakes always were done by skilled pro's who offered a new take on the track, oliver lieb, j00f, pvd etc etc.

Now there is a lack of inspiration in artists to make good new trance, it's mainly supersaw hell, people aren't even looking back past 2000 to see what tracks were like, they should go find stuff by dance2trance, cosmic baby, komakino, oliver lieb etc etc to see how things used to be, and how trance can work in a simple but aurally arousing way.

There are people pushing good sounds atm, as has been said before like J00F, but the problem is even what Armin said once "i dont feel obliged to make new songs cos people just download so i'll just rework a classic" Or words to that effect. that is NOT the answer, and is exactly what will get us in a mess. The reason a lot of us bash armin etc now is cos he's lazy, he's too busy looking for superstar status in USA and worldwide than producing stuff like under his Rising Star alias (Startheme and Clear Blue Moon) for example being amazing and not simple.

It's like going to say a bakery and finding out that someone has got bored so changed the recipe to your favourite indulgence, like a kick in the teeth.

Sure sounds need to progress, but american progressive (or mcprog to most of us) is not the only way things can go, but there seems to be too many people making tracks just to get played on radio shows by certain djs and not enough people making a track to please the real people who matter, those who pay a fortune to see DJs spin.

early morning rant over
