Well the Japs got away with the most of the shit they did during WWII, especially the massacre of people they though disgraced themsevles... What a load of BS... War is a ugly game it's already bloody i dunno... nearly 60 years now... why complain, when a whole generation of the old troopers have died out?

The War was an lesson for European... and for mostly the rest of the world that, war was generated from a political theme, and that over exaggeration of a particular 'theory' or 'idea' is consider incorrect . It seems they have learnt 'quite' well imho...

P.S. Don't get into the conspiracy shitz... it's happened, and mainstream ideas/history was recorded via the Jewish-American perspective, so everybody should just shut about it .

Its was the rest of Europe shafting Germany are WW1 that caused Hitler to gain power.

i cant really blame the average german for going along with it, if we where in the same situation majority of us would aswell.

We allready know what the brits did to defend their small little island...they fought against the odds..as america didnt come into the war until much later on and began to recognoise the fact after Pearl harbour..ie a direct attack on american soil and only then did they fully appreciate such attacks on their terroitory..Britian had experienced these attacks for years and had fought the nazis at home and abroad..and suffered enourmous casulties..as did many european countries before the americans ever participated..

I think his point is more about guilt on both sides..

During the closing stages of the war in europe the allies committed many attrocities and slaughter insued mainly the fire bombing of cities in germany...Dresdan Hamburg and many others were fire bombed and tens of thousands of civilians died in the course of about a week...this was later written out of history for many decades..and history now tells us that these attacks werent needed..because germany was defeated for all intent and purpose..

other attrocities would argueably include that the allies knew(probably for a fact) the existence of concentration camps in central europe..and didnt bomb the rail links that led to them..

Basically the allies were pretty good at slaughtering as well..

while your points are valid, without including the reich's scortched earth policies in reteat, i assumed his position reflected the context of D-day and the defenders of the occupied French beaches of Normandy.

Fighting for your country is not invading neighboring countys & rounding up civilians for death camps & killing many more civilians on the spot regardless of religion or culture. Germany didnt just kill the jews. They killed many Christians in cold blood for defending jews.

i thought nazis killed jews? there seems to be some confusion between nazis and soldiers and german citizens.

thanks for enlightening us about the death camps. i just wish you wouldn't try to strip the validity of x-filer's statement by blanketing the blame for jewish extermination to soldiers on the banks of normandy.

discussing this subject has been a taboo in germany for over fifty years because of the embarassment of what was uncovered after germany surrendered. i seriously doubt regulars were briefed about auschwitz as the war was happening. i know the german public was kept in the dark. we shouldn't hate the germans for hitler anymore than hating the americans for bush (relax fellas, i'm comparing citizens to leadership, not hitler to bush ) someimes a leader goes further than he'll allow the public to see. and for god's sake, don't bash the good soldiers for doing their job.

[/rant about soldiers and germany and boy do my feet stink]

Basically, I dont think there was any difference in motivation for the German soldiers and British soldiers. I dont think the German soldiers signed up cos they wanted to kill Jews, they had no choice but to sign up (like any other solider from any other country). That article covered the German soldiers, they weren't excusing what Hitler did (altho it sounds liek the original poster expected thats what they would be doing?) and as far as what the german army did, the allies did just as bad...Dresden and Hiroshima for example

If you're in the army you do what your superior officer tells you to, it's a simple as that.

That's the corner stone that allows the army as a whole to exist.

So stop hassling the germans, they are the same as any other country's soldiers in WW2. They followed their orders. If you want to blame someone, blame Hitler, but the soldiers should be honoured for doing their duty.

I think there is a big difference in fighting to save the world rather than fighting to take over the world.

Here's something from the Forrest Gump script

A DRILL SERGEANT is in Forrest's face as Forrest stands in line with the other recruits.

DRILL SERGEANT
Gump! What's your sole purpose in
this Army?

FORREST
To do whatever you tell me, Drill
Sergeant!

DRILL SERGEANT
Godamnit, Gump! You're a goddamned
genius! That's the most outstanding
answer I've ever heard. You must
have a godamned I.Q. of a hundred
and sixty! You are godamned gifted,
Private Gump!

Just think about that for a minute

What is it about our northen neighbors that so many folks have a severe brain frostbite???

I'm sorry - all this nonsene about following orders. I'd say that those who were just following orders constituted less than 10% of the total force. This also included the cowards who believed in cause but didn't want to die for it and surrendered to the allies whinnying "We follow orders! we don't want to kill!"
... The rest were ready to die for what they believed in - Arian nation.

Sure, just like in any army - you have "soft hearted" soldiers or those who don't share the ideology. However, I find it hard to justify the execution of women and children as "those were my orders".

personally, faced with a choice - I'd rather shoot my commanding officer and take my chances with the consequences than kill innocent beings.

But that's just me... Of course, history also tells us of legions of Ukrainian soldiers who joined German forces to fight the "Bolsheviks" and "Kikes"... Those were probably not subject or too opposed to german orders, being volunteers and all... Ooops, sorry - breached a sensitive subject here.
