do you think you could give me a more general idea of how the world would be a better place if we more fully understood the exp function?
i mean xenocreator says the world would not in fact be a better place if we fully understood it |
the world being a better place and the extent of this 'betterness' is ofcourse very subjective. for instance i would think the world would be a better place if more was known about the exp function, but my reasons are of a purely mathematical nature.
to put is shortly, there is no MAJOR physical or mathematical puzzles that hinge on the exp function, however it plays a role in many. but then again, there is some very fundamental mechanism encoded in the exp function, since it pertains to so much physical phenomena.
from statistics, check out the normal distribution (Gauss' distribution) and you will see that the probabilty function involves the exp function. Integrating the function, which is neccesary to derive statistical data, cannot be done using elementary functions and must be done using a so called error function. Anyway, all this statistics stuff is tied closely with game theory, or non-linear analysis as seen in the movie "A Beautiful Mind". Nash's equilibirum is thus tied with all this and as seen in the movie, the applicable implications of game theory are plentiful. so in general, you can look into that and hopefully from here you can derive how the world would be a better place.
