id stay away from all the headphones that are known to break. So what are you left with? . . . . . ..
Sennheiser HD 25.

You cant have had them long then.
they do break- but everything is (sensibly) replacable, hence noone really moans about it.
Cord is the fragile bit on these- what with it being non coiled and very short.
Give it a while and one of the drivers may go- but we are generally talking a few years for that to happen.
p,s- yes that is from personal experience.

Pioneer HDJ-1000
They lasted longer than my Sonys....and when they did break (by fault) Pioneer was kind enough to replace them at no cost even way after the warranty date
avoid sony's...too fragile
avoid pionners...so expansive for lack of higs
avoir stanton's...break so fast
buy sennheiser hd-25..youll be in heaven

ok so i had an emergency last night and had to get a pair of headphones at Guitar Center. Since Im on a serious budget, I had to get the Sony 900's ($99) and was really really really disappointed compared to my Pioneers hdjs.
bass is muddy, highs are not as crisp, and of course not as powerful compared to my pioneers. And handling them is a PAIN in the ass because they feel so fragile.
The only plus is that they are comfy.
