tha part that you are referring as macedonia was named like that (although the proper name is FYROM ) after your country was named croatia..and skopje of course....it was yugoslavia

the part that begins above larisa extends near ioannina on the east near kavala on the west and till the northern greek boarder is macedonia
everything that its referred as macedonia in ancient history has to with this part of greece.
your alphabet (and in fact all cyrilik/slavic based languages) were made by kirilos and methodios (i dont know how to call them in your language but u will know them)

i will do my best with this translation now...
after the battle of the "granikos" river near the city of troy alexander the great after he took the weapons off achileus's tomb he encountered an army of 40000 persians and destroyed them.from the loot of this battle he had sent 300 full armors to the parthenon in athens with this saying on them: "Αλέξανδρος Φιλίπου και Έλληνες, πλην Λακεδαιμονίων, από των βαρβάρων των την Ασίαν οικούντων"
in greeklish: "alexandros filipou kai ellines, plin lakedemonion apo ton varvaron kai ton tin asia oikounton"
in english: "alexander ,son of philip and greeks exluding the spartans from the barbarians and the people who live in asia"
this was a custom after each battle to give gifts

and of course the macedonians in ancient greece could participate in the olympic games...thing that only greeks could do it (in ancient greece those who werent greeks were called barbarians)

excuse my english but some greek words cannot be translated..i will try to find a page in english that has all these things

http://www.macedonia.info/fyrom.htm read this as well it has lots of things that i said before

and makedonia comes from the word makos which meant length. a lot of words that we are using today were being used back then. It was a common thing to change Α with Η , making the word used now : mikos

and you slavs (no pun intended) know that even your language didnt exist before cyril and methodios....

Please dont try to prove me that I am not Macedonia, because that will never happen. I am and feel like Macedonian and noone can take that right from me.

That's right that we didnt have any culture. Thats why we we considered as barbarians in the ancient times!

You can check our history at US State department website:

"The ancient territory of Macedon included, in addition to the areas of the present-day Macedonia, large parts of present-day northern Greece and southwestern Bulgaria. This ancient kingdom reached its height during the reign of Alexander III ("the Great"), who extended Macedon's influence over most of Asia Minor, the Levant, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, and even parts of India." ( http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/26759.htm )

You actually have part of us, Macedonia. Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia divided Macedonia. And today, the Greeks say Macedonia is their, the Bugaria clam Macedonia is part of Bulgaria, and Serbia simmilary says that the Macedonans are Serbs. However, you and Bulgaria will retun our part back one day, like Serbia did!

Here is one map. That is Macedonia, and you took it from us in 1913! My grantfather was driven out Solun (Thessaloniki) when you the greeks conqure us during the balcan wars. United Macedonia!

I think we should stop with whis. At least in this forum.

omg how ignorant can you be.....
the land that we "took" was ours and it has been lost due to conflicts at early 1900(remember we were under turkish control from 1453 and started a revolution at 1821)
you think that all this has to do with the events of the last century (1900-2000)? it has to do about the history of ancient macedonia....tell you what....go at the monuments you have there (maceonia back then was the part that we call macedonia in greece, west bulgaria and your country, which compared to the part we call macedonia is tiny) and try to read the sayings.....oh no you cant coz they are in greek...
what if communism didnt stop to exist (at least with the meaning that it used to be)...and you were still a part of yugoslavia..you wouldnt "feel" macedonian would you?
its so funny that you quote state department sayings...why dont you quote the "terrorism" sayings as well? they are amusing as well
read some ancient history plz....not the things you learn in school..at least i did...
why even your former prime minister said that you have nothing to do with alexander the great and ancient macedonia?

I dont want to waste my time proving you why we are Macedonians. The historians have done that, and you are trying to adapt it. But the fact is that we are Macedonia and the whole world will recognize us, as the USA did and you can do NOTHING about that except cry for the past, because you did not suceed to conqure all parts of Macedonia.

do ya know what is funny about you
surely not the FACT that you know SH!T about history
a)the fact that you do not seem to understand that the economy of your country is controlled by Hellas
b)do not forget that your country is under the threat of albanians and you have nowhere to turn to for help but Hellas(so it would be wise to stop these nonsence about Hellas)
c)the fact that sne named Gjorgji should be idiot to believe that there might be a historical connection with persons named Fillipos or ALEXANDER

i can understand that now that yugoslavia does not exist anymore you are trying to blend in with the civilized world.
it will be hard for Skopia to succeed it cause you have to look into the past in order to walk into the future but you from Skopia threw your history in the garbage and now you are trying to adapt ours

What will be next?
i bet that you will also claim the origin from the Vikings

Heh... When I go to Greece and ask some of them if they are Macedonians, they strictly DENY. After I tell them that I am Macedonian, THEN they complain about that and start to claim that they are also. Pretty funny... have you thouth about it why? BECAUSE THEY WANT TO ADAPT OUR HISTORY TO BE THEIR, BUT HAVE HARD TIME WITH IT

It would be nice if the north part of Greece becames inependent and maybe unifies with this and the bulgarian part of Macedonia? Why not? Then all Macedonians will be in one country? Wouldnt they ?
