i think that this being a tie is pretty damn cool.

yes, jenna, i also suggested splitting the prize but the title cannot be split so this tie issue has to be resolved.

maybe, we can do something more random. Set up a committee of people selected randomly. Have the DJs submit a recorded set or play a live set on 2HP.ca and have the 5 people decide on the winner. give them criteria selected by RJ on an evaluation form. some criteria could be: flow of set, technical skills, song selection. rate each criteria 0 - 5. the DJ with the highest added up total wins. the sets could also be annonymous so the judges don't know who is spinning.

so it would look like this:

flow 0 1 2 3 4 5
techincal 0 1 2 3 4 5
song selection 0 1 2 3 4 5


add them up from the 5 judges for each DJ.

yes, the only thing we will be able to tell who does the mix by the type of music. but at least the DJs could either choose to spin just their type of music or try to change it up a bit.

I thought it was going to be more challenging to figure out what to do - but it was actually pretty simple.

Congrats to both Gamma and Mobius - fantastic work and an obviously loyal following. To be fair and still reamain true to the intent of the award...

Here is the solution, based on the provided feedback:

The following prizes WILL be split - 50/50:

- $100 CAD$ gift certificate for a record store (of DJ's choice: Release, Chemical, Juno, 4DJsOnly, etc)
- 2 special event broadcasts on 2HP.ca Radio prior to March 31 2005 (both scheduled and promoted events, possibly simulcast onto other net-radio stations)

The remaining prizes and awards WILL NOT be split:

- 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004 Award
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly residency on 2HP.ca Radio (and syndication partners)
- Prominent mention on 2HP.ca Radio's website (http://www.2hp.ca)

FINAL SHOOT-OUT!

To determine the offical 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004 and above non-shared related prizes - a poll (similar to the last one) will be posted on Wednesday February 2 2005 - run for 3 days - winner announced shortly thereafter. If this final vote results in a tie - then gladiator style combat.
