What do you mean? It looks like they're all rooting AGAINST Bush.

That would require the assistance of American soldiers It's kind of like when Bill Kristol was applauding Bush's inauguration speech, though he helped make it.

As far as people rooting for failure, I think we all want Iraq to become a peaceful, democratic place now, but that doesn't excuse the fact that we didn't go to war for this moment. There is a clear attempt in that "liberal media" right now to play this off as a complete justification and vicotry for Bush's policy. Bush misrepresented the facts and brought us into war by fear. Furthermore, we are not out of the woods yet, because this election is simply to set up the foundations of their democracy and they have a long, long way to go before they have a sovreign government and our soldiers come home. I hope that this election and consequential ones go very well, but it is a positive side effect of a misrepresented war and the threat of civil war or government instability is no less today than yesterday there. You can't take credit for the seeds of Iraqi democracy and deny credit for the negatives that are associated with the war.

I have the perfect picture from which that staute can be modelled. It epitomizes the Bush presidency's vision single-handedly.

It has bush peering out into the distance, looking for people to free from the heavy hand of tyranny. It almost brings tears to me eyes.

With all due respect, I think you either misheard the conversation, or the speaker was mistaken.

Allawi, Iraq's interm Prime Minister, today said that he expects all foreign troops to pull out in 18 months. Others had estimated 5 more years of coalition presence in Iraq.

The main difference is that the Clinton pic was photochopped.

I'm pretty sure they both were. Both of the pictures have surfaced in various threads from time to time, and in every instance they were debunked as fakes.

Whether real or manipulated, these photographs demonstrate nothing beyond the trivial. As much as we may enjoy poking fun at our politicians, they aren't so clueless that they don't know binoculars don't work with the lens caps in place, or would stand confusedly staring through capped binoculars at total blackness for several minutes at a time. Hardly anyone among us hasn't accidentally raised a capped pair of binoculars to his eyes for a few moments before realizing the problem; the difference is that most of us don't have a crowd of photographers hanging around us all day long just waiting to snap such a picture of the moment. Also, there are reasons why binoculars (especially types used by the military) shown in a photograph might appear to be capped when they really aren't: the lenses could be coated with a non-reflective material to cut down on glare and prevent gleams of light from reflecting off the lens and revealing one's position to the enemy, or the binoculars could be NVD (night vision devices) which also work in daylight (provided they have caps with small holes in place to block out most of the light).

So, you were saying?

this discussion of the truthfulness of the pics is going far afield from the original topic (dear me is that a first at pdd?)

in any case, the second bush picture does not disprove the truthfulness of the one i posted. it merely could have been taken after he took the caps off. whatever. in case anyone is wondering whether the first pic is a photochopped version of the larger one, look at his hands. they're not the same pics at all.

they're pics and its all in fun. onto more serious topics...

Indeed. My point was that it is an excercise in futility. Agreed--move along now.

it's hilarious to see you whiney, punk-a** binaches hate on the mayor Baghdad. i mean the guy only stepped up because the previous mayor was brutally assasinated, and then proceeds to go to work every day always wondering whether him or his family will share the same fate all the while being a damn proud productive citizen of his own society he continues to help up.

some of you people are the scum of the earth. i weep for your worthless futures.

hate on young brotha's and sista's...hate on!
