LMAO ..belt drivin tables they should never be mentioned with djing..... i dont think they make dj tables that are belt driving if so that company has to be majorly wack or they are old ass djing tables.....u cant even fuckin dj with them i dont think well never tried but i odnt even want to .... Belt Driven tables are the Batteries of the Djing game...... u cant do shit with out them .. if you really want to get into djing i would highly recommend saving ur money to get the good tables ..... if it takes few more months of saving then do it .... dont be in a rush in buying ur equipment ..... take ur time save and get the best right away otherwise ull have to just buy it twice and it will cost more in the long run..... i recomment mk2's or M3ds there pretty much the same but the m3ds actually good for the progressive stuff. u can hold ur mixes longer well for me its easier hehehehe i just like the pitch control on them better but anyway they are both good and u should get them around 450$ a piece .. when it comes to mixer ...when starting off it isnt that big of a deal if u get the best or not... 2 channel mixer with a high/low eq and try to get with a cue monitor ...that helps when learning how to dj and learning to hear beats and read them... dont really need anything over a 2 channel mixer... needles isnt a big thing either.... cheaper needls around the 35$ range do the job.... those ortofon needles like nighclubs etc...are made for if u want to dj with a system that has shit loud of watts ...other then that there not much different ..but id say tables are the most important thing of the equipment the dj uses

If Techs are out of your price range then get some Gemini 2410s they're pretty dope....my friend has them and I have no complaints.

I read thru this whole damn thread and I am just about very very pissed.

People are dissing belts....even if they never mixed with one?? i mean what the hell?
Look. I've been mixing for 2.5 years with Numark TT1700. Guess what, belt drives. The belts are just fine, and I've used em enough. So belts wearing out fast is just CRAP and besides...what can a rubber band cost? About $10??? Secondly, i hear that you "can't do anything with it that has to do with mixing" bla bla "not for DJ's". I've said this before but no-one seems to pick it up. If I can make 4 minute transitions with belts apparently their pitch doesn't swing around all that much. So maybe it does a tiny tiny puny little during long transitions. But if you guys were worthy of calling yourself a DJ, you could correct that by giving a record a little extra push. Maybe ya'll haven't mastered that yet and then whine when you can't mix for shit on anything less than a 1200. I've mixed a bit with 1200's too at a friends house, just for the record. They are indeed the supreme turntables, i don't deny that. But to say nothing else will do.... bad ass dj's. (This is not intended as a flame, neither do i want to get flamed. But to hear my lovely turntables get dissed time after time just gets me pissed.) Just think about it. It's the man behind the gear, not the gear. (ok ok ya DO need some kind of pitch control)

Hehe! Calm down!

But seriously, I totally agree. If you are actually any good behind the decks then you should be able to mix on belt drives. Before I bought my Techs I was using a pair of SoundLab DLP1600's, which are actually, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst pieces of shit ever on the face of the earth. The only way I managed to get rid of them was by selling them to some dumb 11 year old kid. But with these decks, I managed to mix a very successful CD, which everyone who heard it said it was really really good.

The moral of the story, if you can mix on belt drives, you can mix on anything. And someone who can mix on belt drives and direct drives is surely a better DJ than someone who can only mix on direct drives, surely?

And one other thing, those geminis are a gorgeous looking set of decks, but the motors are like the ones in scalextric cars.

right now I do mix on Belt Drives, are they peices of shit, I think so(cmon, 1 is a euro deck, 1 is US) actually the biggest complaint I have is that u hold a record for a cue, and the plate stops...and then it takes forever to get back up to speed..but u can get used to that, I have!
