im so happy to see people agreeing with my post!!!!

what i wanted to mention also was that im surprised oakie held the 5 spot...while he has dropped from 1, to 2, now to 5...he is still holding his ground (the original trance master) mainstream or not....sell out or not...still one of the best mixers

i love to see people agreeing with my judge jules comment...oh yeah...carl cox is a great dj but has done nothing in 2001...this guys is relaxing and taking it easy...top 10 just because he will be there when he is dead

and i know we are talking about marco v being so low, but it reminds me of 2 years ago and tiesto was not in the top 100...why is this? he didnt leave the netherlands!!!! as marco v is doing now...in 2 years, marco v will be in the top 10...

swamper, whats your take on this discussion?

As mentioned before that Top 100 is more of a popularity contest than anything else..

It's sort of a rough guideline but nothing to pay too much attention to...

Where is Satoshi??? He's done a lot these past 20 months....I guess this is just some freaky voting scheme with no basis on recognition of individual productions....what the hell...it's just some numbers...and Cass...where is he too?

before this year, you had to mail a ballot in, this year you could vote online, which if ya ask me is how Max made a HUMOUNGOUS leap from 108 to 32. Shows all his followers are computer geeks, as opposed to Ferry, who either doesnt have followers or they dont have computers. Really, I dont see what the big difference, I dont like what half those DJs spin, so if u ask me, ill say they are talented, but SHIT djs..so yeah.

A chart that measures skill, and not popularity would be much better.

Well, the chart is open to anyone who wants to vote. The majority of the clubbing general public really cant pick out the technicalities of djing and so really have no idea who is the best mixer. They just pick who they remembered delivered a performance they remembered. Really, I think you can just throw away anythying above 20 because they are all interchangeable. This doesnt mean I think anyone who is ranked above 20 should not be placed in the top 20.. it just means their rank is meaningless. It should really be a dj top 20 list IMO

How hard would it be to really clasify djs by their real skills?
I mean, I think that the top is about popularity, so they all have turned into real 'meadia stars'.
In fact, I like the way Dj Remy does it, and he's not in there, and theres a lot more.....
And, after all, the only 3 guys I'm satisfied 'bout their places inside top 10 are John Digweed, Paul van Dyk and Deep Dish.

rofl!!!

Happy to see Tiesto up high, but upset that PvD is only 4th. I've been to Digweed/Sasha parties and Danny T. parties and PvD still takes the cake. :P
