I'm sure it would sound great if you pulled it off. But I think to scratch to trance, you have to be really good to make it sound alright. So much of trance depends on being able to beatmatch and phrase-match well, and you have to really understand this stuff to not have your scratching screw up the phrases.
As for me, one of these day's I'll play around with scratching trance, but not until I get good enough with it that I could make it sound right.

The usual Hip-Hop "AHHHHHHH" or "Scratch" will do it. The trick about scratching with trance music is that you have to know where the beat and bassline going to drop at exact point. Like qbert said, "Scratching is like talking" You know what to scratch when to scratch. Thats it.

well lets say you got 2 tracks mixed perfectly, and i'm just curious (and I even imagined how it would sound like) if it would be a great idea to do some scratching to one of em?
No.

PS
Unless you truly master the artform, forget about it in terms of performace. Unless you are truly good at it you will only end up sounding horrible.
Naturally if you want to start to practice this then it's a whole other matter but be advised that the learning curve is steep and the difference to what you think sounds good compared to what actually sounds good is scary sometimes.

He's right and I suggest if you want to start learning how to scratch you need to practice first too hip-hop because trance is way too fast to scratch to for a beginner. I've been scratching for a year straight and I'm just barely starting to sound anywhere near decent.

imo it really depends on the track playing and what exactly you're scratching into it...
scratching can be really cool if properly done, if done poorly you'll prolly regret it - mostly for when youre trying to record a mix or if you're spinning to a crowd
if you're gonna scratch be sure you do plenty of research on it so you know what youre doing
personally i think scratching fits best with hard heavy trance, i find it hard to see where a scratch would fit into a track like Rank 1 - Airwave
for the most part scratching to trance should be done with carefull consideration to the feel of the track

I've got dennon s5000s which are pretty good for scratching on and I've tried it a bit here and there. The only time I can say it sounds remotely at home is over the top of psytrance with lots of effects. Flangers and echos seems to work pretty well. They almost distort the sound to the point where it just sounds like another synth or effect over the top. Kinda sounds cool in a wierd sort of way. Cant imagine it sitting too well in more uplifting/melodic tunes but then its all about experimenting innit?
