nrjizer's theory is nice. I just hope it's what valve really had in mind. The storyline is FUBAR, and the idea of making complcated storyline (which the writers don't even understand, and hope the fans to come up with making some sense to it) reminds me of such dissapointing games/movies like MGS:sons of liberty and Matrix 2&3

i just hope valve will explain the storyline in HL3, otherwise i'm rather dissapointed

No, I think HL2 is a lot different from Metal Gear 2/3 because they just leave the details for you to discover on your own... the recent metal gear installments, on the other hand, simply break down into suck a complex, tangled mass of twists and conspiracies and revelations that it becomes nearly impossible to understand or enjoy. The HL2 story is there for you, if you're observant enough to catch it.
