Wrong. Ska was unquestionably at its most popular in the 80s, with bands like Madness, The Specials, and other artists on the Two Tone label.

avant garde, is organised mess....

theres a big avante garde scene in america.

John Cage wrote a piece called 4'33 whihc is 4 minute sand 33 seconds of silence, there is sheet music available for it.

basically you walk on stage sit at a piano take your watch off, place it on top of the piano and sit thre for 4'33.

i had to learn about if for my gcse exam

Atari-addict is correct with "crossover" although in the last 15 years - it has been used frequently to describe classical music that has been heavily influenced by pop. Examples are Bond, Vanessa Mae, Charlotte Church, Sarah Brightmen, Andrea Brocelli, etc.
It's classical music for the mainstream!
