iam mixed on this
i feel that in his defense that hes just too popular in europe
he rarely spins at any clubs really, they will be filled to capacity, so he does his concerts and summer festivals
maybe there isent a large enuff venue in france to hold him so who knows, i dont think he asked to become this popular
i mean he blew up basically in 2000 and probly gets 100 different requests a day from clubs all around the world to come in and spin
i cant hate on that i respect that
now the part i disagree with is how this is going to commercialize trance and make it kind of cheesey
tiesto spun at the olymics which was huge and spun an artist set which was also amazing
but now spinning at disney land in europe to 15,000 people in france
who dont really have a great trance scene is too much if hes gonna spin a really cheesey set with just his "hits" cause thats what they probly just know him from
and thats more like a artist and not a dj
if he was to do a live act like push and nu nrg do i would have no problem, but when tiesto goes to places and spins the same set with about 70% of his own music over and over
it tends to get boring, and to me that is makeing trance commericalized and corney

god serious.
ooh no! what will we do! our music isn't "underground" anymore.
ffs, if trance was gonna blow up big in the mainstream world, don't you think it already would have? it hasn't been around for just a year or so- it's well over a decade and society hasn't jumped on the bandwagon yet.
so chill.

Well, it is quite clear that for whatever reason, it pains people to see the man succeed in what he does. And that is give more people the oppurtunity to hear trance. Whether his version or style doesn't appeal to you is null. Doesn't matter cuz he enjoys it and so do millions of other people who continue to purchase tickets to his shows. I just think a lot of you who are against him or hate to see him "Stoop" to levels have personal anger issues that have to be delt with because releasing them on Tiesto isn't fair.
Please, prove me wrong.
so, someone cant disagree with you just for the sake of disagreeing?
it has to mean they have "personal anger issues"? get over yourself. i respect your opinion, but you dont need to put down mine. and i really dont know how to explain how i feel about this, which is why i didnt try - it would probably come out wrong. dont think for a second i'm not happy for tiesto for succeeding - i wouldnt have flown to fucking amsterdam to see him if i didnt support him and his career.

You are absolutely right, and I am sorry. To be honest deep down inside I think I feel the same way as you but I know it is out of my control. So I just continue to listen to the music that I like and just say, "Hey, he is happy so why should I let it bother me." But I do kinda feel like trance is cheated in a way because like someone already said, he is known as an artist now and not a dj. He will just continue to spin what made him popular.
All that I can hope for now is that AvB, PvD, and Corsten just stick to their shit and not let the publicity and fame get to them.
