I find it very difficult to mix with both ears in the cans, I don't even know if I could ever be able to do that, a little confusing to me

What is that supposed to mean? You're not making any sense. Are you saying sennheisers are all expensive? Are you saying that they're good because they're expensive? I don't understand.

Kind of a stupid question, but how do you isolate one tune in the headphones until you've beatmatched it and bring it in after another tune ends?

Just because senns are expensive and good doesn't mean that any other pair of phones that are expensive are going to be good.

Hence

i prefer the headphone method but i'm also learning the monitor method still. it's better to know both skills so that you are better prepared.

Heh, I was spinning on my Friends Decks, He crushed his good pair of headphones, so I had to use his Sony's $80(AUD) Pair, Couldn't do the 1 ear trick, but I found by having 1 playing live on the monitors and the other cue'd into the headphones, I could beatmatch no problems as I could still hear outside the headphones

same here i can only tell quite big differences when mixing wiv one ear, if the mixer at a club didnt have cue split, i would match best i could then mix on the fly by riding the pitch to match it properly, that way it wouldnt sound as shit as if i touched the platter

1. Senn's are generally cheap by comparison (At least at Jim Laabs music in SP) to some of the "Big Name" headphones (Sony, Technics, & Pioneer all have more expensive phones)

&

2. Ok, so let's say Senn's ARE both good (I don't think there is any doubt here) & expensive (point of discrepency, but we'll give it to you), so that apparently means anything good is also expensive, and also anything expensive is also good?

Apply that logic to some other situations and see how happy you are with that conclusion...

The point wasn't that you can't buy good cans for a lot of $$$, because of course you can. But you can also spend a shit ton of that proverbial "Bling Bling" on some real shitty phones.

Cheers,

RJT

I think your reading too deep into what I was saying and as a result, we might be saying the same thing.

on a side note, if your saying that I apply the correlation equals causation (thereby allowing reversing causal chains) thing to everything you have been sadly mistaken.

cheers!.
