| quote: | | The sh-32 does have a supersaw waveform but it doesnt exactly sound like a jp. the filter steps (like a zipper) and is not smooth like the jp for starters. it also sounds slightly more metallic and colder. but then it costs alot less. some people really like the sound of the sh-32 though |
I don't encounter any zippering when opening and closing the filter through an LFO or envelope. This seems to be limited to use of the cutoff knob and only when the cpu is struggling, which is often.

you mean the ones on roland us website? the real thing sounds better thant those audio demos but the filter isnt totally smooth. that said, i didnt care about zipper filters until i got a virus b (oooooooh - so smoooth!). the audio demos for the nord lead 2 are far worse than those ones. heck the virus ones arent much cop either.
all audio demos are misleading to some extent. if you were to listen to the death metal demo song for drumkit from hell i bet you would think it was the shittest thing ever. when in fact its supposed to be quite good. similarly - listen to the creamware pulsar demos. written and produced by a chimp on brain tonic.

RB2k1 made a VST for a supersaw after he made his esemble that replicates in a software kind of way, the JP-8000. He also sells Presets for the actual JP-80x0 for 45 dollars or something like that.

If someone would like to post an smf along with an mp3 of the same file played on a JP-80X0, I'd be happy to try to program a similar voice on the SH32 and post an mp3 of it for comparison. I had a look at the airwave patch tutorial at trance.nu, but since I don't have a JP and don't know the settings of the Sandstorm preset it wasn't enough info to build a patch with. I also don't have an mp3 of the Rank 1 song.
